SECURITY FEATURES
SELECTING A CALL RESTRICTION LEVEL
You can use this function to prevent certain types of calls. Your 4-digit
lock code is required to change this function's settings.
The Restrict Calls function lets you select one of these three levels:
ALLOW ALL
Use this setting to allow all calls. (This is the default setting.)
INCOMING ONLY
Use this setting to allow incoming calls and outgoing calls only to
the emergency number programmed into your phone.
MEMORY ONLY
Use this setting to allow only outgoing calls to the numbers stored in
the phone's memory locations (including calls to the emergency number
programmed into your phone).
If you select INCOMING ONLY or MEMORY ONLY, NOT ALLOWED appears for a
a few seconds if anyone tries to place a restricted call.
NOTE: Call restrictions do not prevent you from using one-touch
emergency dialing or from speed-dialing the priority number
stored in memory location 40.
Follow these steps to set the call restriction level.
1. Press MENU then 1. The phone displays the currently selected setting.
2. Use the arrows to scroll to the desired option, then press STO.
The phone prompts you for the 4-digit lock code (LOCKCODE?).
3. Enter your lock code and press STO.
TURNING ONE-TOUCH EMERGENCY DIALING ON/OFF
Using one-touch emergency dialing, you can make an emergency call to the
primary emergency number programmed into your phone by pressing and holding 9 WXYZ for about 2 seconds.
One-touch emergency dialing is preset to off on your phone. Follow these
steps to turn it on or off.
1. Press MENU then 8 TUW. The phone displays EMERG. 9 ON (if one-touch
emergency dialing is on) or EMERG. 9 OFF (if one-touch emergency
dialing is off).
2. Press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to select ON or OFF.
3. Press STO to save your selection.
TURNING KEYGUARD ON/OFF
You can use keyguard to prevent accidental operation of the phone's
keypad (for example, when the phone is in a purse or pocket).
To turn keyguard on or off, press MENU then *. You can also turn on
keyguard by pressing and holding END for about 2 seconds. This is a
convenient way to activate keyguard when you end a call.
When keyguard is on, the phone displays KEYGUARD ACTIVE. When you press
a key, the phone first prompts you to press MENU (PRESS MENU) then *
(NOW PRESS *) to turn off keyguard. The phone briefly displays
KEYGUARD OFF to show that keyguard is off.
When keyguard is on:
You must press SEND to answer a call. During the call the keypad
remains unlocked and you can use the phone as usual.
You must press END to end a call. When the call disconnects, keyguard
automatically turns back on.
You cannot turn off the phone.
You cannot use one-touch emergency dialing. However, you can make an
emergency call by manually dialing the emergency number programmed into
your phone (911, for example) and pressing SEND. The phone does not
display any digit until you enter the entire number.
