ET-493 Cordless Electronic Telephone
(430-0628) Installation Faxback Doc. # 18967
SELECTING A LOCATION
You can place the phone on a desk, shelf, or table. Select a location that
meets the following requirements:
Near an AC outlet
Near a modular phone line jack
Out of the way of normal activities
Away from electrical machinery, electrical appliances, and metal walls
or filing cabinets
Away from wireless intercoms, security alarms, and room monitors
The base's location affects the phone's range. If you have a choice of
several locations, try each location to see which one provides the best
performance.
If the phone line jack is not a modular jack, you must update the wiring.
You can convert the wiring yourself, using jacks and adapters available
at your local Radio Shack store. Or, you can let the phone company update
the wiring for you.
NOTE: The phone company will charge you for the installation of the
necessary jacks. The phone company will ask you for the USOC number
of the jack to be installed. This number is RJ11C for a baseboard
jack.
CONNECTING THE PHONE
After you select a location for the phone, follow these steps to connect it
to AC power and to the phone line.
1. Attach the supplied antenna to the handset by screwing the antenna into
the hole on top of the handset.
2. Plug one end of the supplied modular cord into the phone line jack on
the back of the base.
3. Plug the modular cord's other end into a modular phone line jack.
4. Insert the supplied AC adapter's barrel plug into the DFC 12V jack on
the back of the base.
5. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.
