CT-353 Handheld Cellular Phone
(170-1063) Operation Faxback Doc. # 17591

MAKING A CALL

1. For the best reception, pull the antenna up and fully extend it until
it locks into place. Do not leave the antenna partly extended.

2. Enter the number you want to dial. Remember to include the area code,
even if you are making a local call, if this is necessary on your
system. The phone displays the numbers as you enter them.

NOTE: To correct a mistake, press CLR to delete the last digit, or
press and hold CLR to clear all digits.

3. Press SEND. IN USE appears on the display, and the number disappears.

If NO SERVICE appears, you are outside the cellular service area.

If LOCKED appears, your phone is locked (see "Locking and Unlocking the
    phone").

NOTE: You can make emergency calls (ie: 911) and calls to the number
in memory location 48, even when the phone is locked (see
           "Locking and Unlocking the Phone").

4. To end the call, press END.

RECEIVING A CALL

When you receive an incoming call, the phone rings and CALL flashes on the
display. Press any key except PWR to answer the call. If you receive a
call while you are entering a number, the call is answered on the first
keypress after the ringing starts.

If the SILENT SERVICE option has been selected, the phone does not ring.
The display lights flash instead, and the phone sounds a short beep (see
"Ringing Volume").

If you do answer a call, the CALL message remains on the display
(indicating a missed call). To clear the display, press any key.

To end the call, press END.

ADJUSTING THE RECEIVER VOLUME

On the front of the phone, press ^ to increase or v to decrease the volume
(to one of five levels).

After pressing either key, the phone displays the selected volume level,
VOLUME 1 indicates the lowest level, and VOLUME 5 indicates the highest.
The phone sounds a warning beep if you try to decrease the volume below
level 1 or increase it above level 5.

MAKING 911 EMERGENCY CALLS

Enter the emergency number (i.e., enter 9 1 1 ), then press SEND. You can
do this even if the phone is locked (see "Locking and Unlocking the Phone")
or if keyguard is active (see "Selecting Keyguard ").

When making an emergency call, remember to give your name and cellular
phone number, as well as the location of the incident. Remember that your
phone might be the only means of communication at the scene of an accident;
do not end the call until given permission to do so.

LAST NUMBER REDIAL

The phone automatically stores the last number you tried to call.

To call the number you last called, ensure the display is clear, then
press SEND.

SIGNAL STRENGTH INDICATOR

The signal strength indicator shows received signal strength. The more
bars showing, the stronger the signal. If the signal is poor, try moving
to a different position and check that the antenna is fully extended. If
your are using the phone in a building, you might find that reception is
better near a window.
