ET-507 Cordless Phone
(430-1012) Operation Faxback Doc. # 17197

TURNING RINGER ON

Press # for five seconds to turn the ringer on the handset on or off.

MAKING/ANSWERING A CALL

You can use your cordless phone in two ways: at the base or away from the
base.

For best reception, fully extend the base's antenna and place it in a
vertical position.

NOTE: This unit will only go off-hook when picked up if it has just
received a Ring signal. If it is picked otherwise, you must press
       TALK to go off-hook.

USING THE HANDSET AT THE BASE

You can use the handset at the base like a regular corded telephone. Just
set POWER to ON and place the handset in the cradle.

To answer a call, just lift the handset from the base. To make a call,
lift the handset from the base and press TALK so the CHARGE/TALK indicator
lights.

To disconnect the call, replace the handset on the base.

USING THE HANDSET AWAY FROM THE BASE

To use the handset away from the base, set POWER to ON and press TALK to
make a call. The keypad lights.

To disconnect a call, press TALK so the keypad light turns off.

NOTES: You can turn off the handset's power when you are not making or
receiving a call to conserve battery power. The ET-507 does not
ring with the handset's power turned off. However, other phones on
the same line still ring. Turn on the handset and press talk to
answer the call using the cordless phone.

You can make or answer a call on a phone on the same line as the
cordless phone, even if the handset is away from the base.

REDUCING INTERFERENCE

To reduce interference, press CH to switch to the next channel until you
receive the best reception. There are 10 channels in total.

REDIAL

To quickly redial the last number you dialed, simply lift the handset from
the base or press TALK again so the CHARGE/TALK indicator lights, and then
press REDIAL.

The redial memory holds up to 80 digits in tone mode or 81 digits in pulse
mode. The redial memory also holds pause entries, See "Entering a Pause in
a Memory Number" under "Memory Dialing".

NOTE: We recommend you not use REDIAL to dial numbers that include a TONE
entry (see "Using Tone Services on a Pulse Line").

USING FLASH

Use FLASH on the handset to perform the switchhook operation for special
services, such as call waiting.

For example, if you have call waiting, press FLASH to take an incoming
call without disconnecting the current call. Press FLASH again to return
to the first call.

NOTES: If you do not have special phone services, pressing FLASH might
        disconnect the current call.

The redial memory does not store a FLASH entry or any digits
        entered after pressing flash.

USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE

Some special services, such as bank by phone, require tone signals. If you
have a pulse service, you can still use these special tone services by
following these steps.

1. Set TONE/PULSE on the base to PULSE.

2. Dial the service's main number.

3. When the service answers, press * on the keypad. Then dial the
additional numbers. The phone sends these numbers as tone signals.

4. When you complete the call, place the handset on the cradle or press
TALK to disconnect the call. The phone automatically resets to the
    PULSE mode.

NOTE: We recommend that you not use REDIAL to dial numbers that include a
      Tone entry.

USING PAGE

PAGE allows someone else at the base to page you at the handset. With the
handset's power on and its TALK key light off, the handset beeps three sets
of two beeps when someone presses PAGE on the base. The TALK key on the
handset and the CHARGE/TALK indicator on the base flash.

NOTE: The handset will not beep, if paged, during a call.

MEMORY DIALING

You can store up to 10 phone numbers for single button dialing. Each stored
number can be up to 16 digits long.

NOTES: If TONE/PULSE is set to PULSE and you want to use tone dialing for
a memory number, you must store the tone entry along with the
        number.

To keep accounts secure we recommend you NOT store your personal
access code for services such as bank-by-phone in a memory
        location.

Storing a Number in Memory

1. With the handset's power on, press MEMORY. The keypad lights.

NOTE: While you are storing a number in memory, if you do not press
any button on the keypad within 9 seconds, the keypad light
turns off and a buzz sounds. You must press MEMORY again so the
keypad lights before you can store the telephone number.

2. Dial the number.

3. Press MEMORY again.

4. Press the index number (0-9) where you want to store the number. A long
beep sounds. The phone number is now stored in the memory.

5. Remove the plastic covering from the base's index sheet with a small
pointed object, such as the end of a paper clip. Write the person's
name and index number on the sheet in pencil (in case you later store a
    different number).

6. Repeat steps 1-5 for other telephone numbers.

NOTES: If you receive a call while you are storing in memory, press
TALK to answer the call. After the call, begin again at step 1
            to store the number.

To change a phone number stored in memory, simply store a new
            phone number in that position.

To clear a memory position so no number is stored there, press
MEMORY twice, then press the location number. A long beep
sounds. The number is now cleared from the memory.

If a buzz sounds, it indicates that your clearing is
            unsuccessful. Try the process again.

ENTERING A PAUSE IN A MEMORY NUMBER

In some telephone systems, you must first dial an access code (9, for
example) and wait for a second dial tone before you can dial an outside
number. If your phone is connected to one of these systems, you might
want to enter a pause at the appropriate point when you store the number
in memory.

At the appropriate place in the number press REDIAL to enter a 2-second
pause. For a longer pause, press REDIAL again (each press enters a 2
second pause). Each pause counts as one digit in stored in memory.

DIALING A STORED NUMBER

Follow these steps to dial a number stored in memory.

1. Lift the handset from the cradle and press TALK so the keypad and TALK
    key light.

2. When you hear a dial tone, press MEMORY and then press the correct
memory location button. The phone dials the stored number.

STORING/CHAIN DIALING SERVICE NUMBERS

When storing numbers for special services (such as alternate long distance
or bank by phone), store the service's main number in one memory location
and numbers for additional information in others.

To chain dial memory numbers, follow these steps.

1. With the handset's power on and TALK key lit, press MEMORY and the
memory location number for the services main number.

2. Wait for the service to answer.

NOTE: If you initially use pulse dialing to dial the service, be sure
you have stored a *(tone) entry in the next memory position
before the numbers for the additional information.

3. Press MEMORY and the memory location number for the additional
    information.

4. To disconnect the call, press TALK so the TALK key light goes off.

NOTE: Avoid using * when storing and chain dialing numbers for tone
service when your phone is set to the pulse mode.

TESTING STORED EMERGENCY NUMBERS

If you store an emergency services number (police department, fire
department ambulance) and you choose to test the number, make the test call
during the LATE EVENING or EARLY MORNING hours to AVOID PEAK DEMAND
PERIODS. Also, remain on the line to explain the reason for your call.
