1. Carefully unpack the telephone, battery, antenna and AC charger.

2. Fit the battery:

Locate the battery at the base of the telephone, push the battery
towards the telephone, until the catch engages.

3. Locate the antenna in the socket on the top of the telephone, then
    screw-in the antenna.

4. Before use, charge the battery according to the instructions below.

WARNING: Use only batteries, antennas and chargers supplied by the phone
manufacturer. The use of any other types will invalidate any
approval or warranty applying to the telephone and may be
          dangerous.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

1. Connect the AC charger to the socket on the base of the telephone.

2. Connect the charger to the AC supply.

3. When charging a new battery for the first time - leave on charge for at
    least 16 hours.

When charging in normal usage: for a full charge, using the AC Travel
    Charger (ACH-3) -

leave Standard battery (BTH-2L) on charge for 4 hours.
leave Extended battery (BTH-2S) on charge for 8 hours.
leave Extended battery (BTH-2H) on charge for 11 hours.

NOTE: Although it is safe to change a battery with the charger connected,
it is not recommended to leave the charger connected to the
       telephone without a battery fitted.

To remove the battery - Switch off the telephone. Press the catch (at the
top of the telephone), and lift the battery.

A fully-charged battery gives the following approximate standby and
    talk times.

Standard battery (BTH-2L): 10 hours standby or 45 minutes talk
                                    time

Extended 800 mAh battery (BTH-2S): 22 hours standby or 100 minutes
                                            talk time.

Extended 1100 mAh battery (BTH-2H): 30 hours standby or 140
                                             minutes talk time.

In common with all rechargeable batteries the performance will reduce
    with substantial use.

If left unused, a charged battery will self discharge over a period of
    time.

Battery charging/charged indication, as shown above the "b" symbol on
    the display:

        Charging in progress: flashing "C".

        Charge complete: steady "C"

"C" indicator will be present also when the telephone is switched
        off (when charger is connected)

    Battery level-of-charge indication:

Level shown by indicator above 'b' symbol on display.

When charge falls to less than 10%, the warning message "Battery
Low" is displayed, and a warning tone will be heard (warnings
repeat every five minutes if the telephone is in standby mode, or
every minute if the telephone is in a call).

When battery is fully discharged, a tone will be heard, the message
"Recharge Battery is displayed, and the telephone switches off
        automatically.

Telephone can be used during recharging (except when battery is
completely discharged), but the charging process will be interrupted
for the duration of the call.

Battery lasts longer and performs better if allowed to discharge fully
at least once a week. You can do this by leaving the telephone
switched on, until the message "Recharge Battery" is displayed (the
telephone will then switch off automatically).

When battery is not in use, store it uncharged in a cool dark and dry
    place.

Battery will not be recharged if the battery temperature exceeds 40 C
    (104 F).

Battery is a sealed unit with no serviceable parts. Do not attempt to
    open the case.

A desktop charging stand, fast travel charger and a cigarette lighter
    charger are available.

WARNING: Do not dispose of a battery in a fire.
