CP 4600 (170-1067) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 15094

Before using the CP 4600 for the first time, you must charge the supplied
Battery Pack. When charging the Battery Pack, the external temperature
should be between +32 F. to +113 F.

CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK

1. If the Battery Pack is already installed when you receive your phone,
remove the Battery Pack to charge it before using the phone for the
first time. Press the Battery Release button and slide the Battery
Pack back until you can lift it off the phone.

2. Place the Battery Pack onto the Battery Charger, line it up with the
grooves, and slide it all the way up until it clicks into place.

3. Plug the slim end of the AC adapter into the Battery Charger. Plug the
other (prong) end of the AC adapter into a standard 120VAC outlet.

4. The green Charge LED will light and remain lit while the Battery Pack
    is charging.

NOTE: If the Battery Pack is already fully charged, the Charge LED
will blink. When that happens, remove the Battery Pack from the
Battery Charger and install it on the phone without attempting
           to charge it.

5. Charge the Battery Pack for about 8 hours. (Charging for a shorter
time may not fully charge the Battery Pack.)

6. When the Battery Pack is fully charged, the Charge LED will go out.
The Battery Charger then changes to a trickle charge, and you can
remove the Battery Pack any time after that.

CAUTION: Do not charge the Battery Pack twice in a row. Use it on the
              phone first.

7. Press the Battery Release button and slide the Battery Pack back until
you can lift it off the Battery Charger.

8. Place the Battery Pack onto the phone, line it up with the grooves, and
slide it all the way up until it clicks into place.

Follow this same procedure each time you need to recharge the Battery Pack.

BATTERY MEMORY EFFECT

All rechargeable nickel cadmium batteries can develop a "memory" (reduced
charge capacity) caused by repeated charge and discharge cycles.

Batteries that have developed this effect will not operate to their fullest
capacity.

To Avoid Memory Effect: Operate the unit until the Battery Pack is
completely discharged before recharging. Do not
"top off" the charge after using for a short time.
Also, do not charge the Battery Pack for extended
                         periods of time.

To Erase Memory Effect: Operate the unit until the Battery Pack is
                         completely discharged, then recharge fully.
Repeat this process at least three (3) times.

ANTENNA

Before lacing or receiving a call, carefully pull the antenna all the way
out until it "clicks" into place. To store the antenna when not using the
phone, or in a strong coverage area, carefully push the antenna back into
the phone until it "clicks" into place.

NOTE: The antenna is easily bent. Be careful when extending or retracting
       it.
