Ericsson AH 210 (170-1064) Battery Faxback Doc. # 15084
Cellular Flipfone
Your cellular telephone is equipped with a Battery, a Overnight Charger for
battery charging, and an AC adapter. You must first charge the battery
before making or receiving calls.
CHARGE THE BATTERY BEFORE USING THE TELEPHONE
Charge Times: High Capacity 10 hrs.
The LED on the charger indicates that charging is in progress. Remove the
battery when the LED turns green. Do not leave the battery in the charger
for more than 48 hours. Over-charging may reduce battery life.
RECHARGING THE BATTERY
Recharge the battery when the low battery alert sounds.
NOTE: Avoid recharging the battery before the low battery alert sounds.
This reduces battery capacity.
BATTERY CAPACITY
For the best battery performance and longer life, it is important to charge
and discharge your battery correctly. If you experience low battery
capacity you battery may need conditioning.
Battery Conditioning
1. Use the telephone until the low battery alarm sounds. (It is important
to let the battery drain completely).
2. After the low battery alarm sounds, allow the telephone to remain on
until it completely shuts itself off.
3. Remove the battery from the telephone and charge the battery. If you
are still experiencing low battery capacity repeat this procedure 3 or
4 times.
NOTE: If you are experiencing low battery capacity you battery needs to
be conditioned. Conditioning restores your battery's capacity.
BATTERY CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Your charger is intended for indoor use only. Keep the charger and AC
adapter dry. Do not use in or near water.
Never recharge a battery when the ambient temperature is below 50 F (5 C),
or above 105 F (40 C).
Never let a battery contact metal objects that may short-circuit the
battery poles, for example, keys in your pocket.
Do not disassemble a battery.
A battery may explode if disposed of in a fire.
Use only Ericsson specified batteries and chargers.
Periodically condition your battery for improved battery performance.
BATTERY RECYCLING
This type of battery is burned or punctured, could release toxic materials.
Do not dispose of the battery in household garbage. For proper recycling,
call 1-800-227-3663 to request a disposal envelope, or contact your local
solid waste collection or disposal organization.
The relationship between talk time, and standby time, and battery capacity
is affected by many variables. Follow the guidelines to obtain the best
performance possible from the battery. If you need additional batteries or
more information, call 1-800-227-3663 or see your cellular service
representative.
BATTERY PERFORMANCE
Battery Type Talk Time or Standby Time
HIGH CAP 100 min. 24 hrs.
Talk and standby times may vary depending on usage and battery product
improvements. The times specified are based on the battery being used
exclusively in talktime OR standby mode from any fully-charged battery.
Batteries will self-discharge very slowly when in an idle state (for
example, when the phone is turned off).
FACTORS THAT AFFECT BATTERY PERFORMANCE
Talk and standby times vary with telephone usage. If you are using a high-
capacity battery, the telephone consumes battery power at a rate that
allows 24 hours of standby time. If you send or receive calls, the
telephone consumes battery power at a rate several times higher than when
the telephone is in standby. For example, if the telephone has been in
standby mode for about four hours and you make a 20 minute call, your
approximate standby time has been reduced to 18 hours from the rated 24
hour maximum standby time for the high-cap battery.
The following factors also affect the amount of talk time and standby time
you get from a battery:
Battery Condition - Frequently recharging the battery before your telephone
sounds the Low Battery Alert affects the battery's
"memory", causing it to charge to less than its
specified capacity. You should periodically condition
the battery to prevent this "memory affect". (See
Battery Capacity)
Backlight Setting - The backlighting for the keypad and display also
consumes battery power. Constant use of the
backlighting results in decreased standby and talk
times.
NOTE: Turn Backlight off and VOX on to improve
battery life.
VOX Setting - If voice operated transmitter (VOX) service is offered
by your cellular carrier, you can set the VOX menu
function to ON so that the telephone's transmitter
operates only when you are speaking during a call.
With the VOX setting OFF, the transmitter operates
continuously during a call and consumes more battery
power.
Signal Strength - When NO SERV appears in your telephone's display, the
to Cell Site signal strength from the cellular system to your
telephone is too weak to maintain service. This causes
the telephone to continuously scan until it locks on to
a cellular system. Both continuous scanning and weak
signal strength consumes battery power at a higher
rate.
Battery Care and - The battery needs to be conditioned periodically.
Maintenance Improper recharging will affect battery performance.
See Battery Care and Maintenance.
