ET-900 (430-1000) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 14111
We do not expect you to have any problems with your phone, but if you do,
first check another phone on the same line to determine if the problem is
with the phone service. If it is not, try the following suggestions. If
you cannot determine the cause of the problem from the suggestions below,
take the phone to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
NOISE INTERFERENCE IN CONVERSATION
Your cordless phone operates in an ultra-high frequency range not shared
with devices which use lower frequency ranges; however, any radio device
can receive interference from power lines, large motors, etc. Should you
experience interference, move the handset closer to the base.
To reduce interference, try to move the base away from the source of the
interference. Try not to plug the base into a circuit that also provides
power to a major appliance.
FALSE RINGING
Cordless phones can receive false ringing signals caused by other radio
devices. To minimize false ringing, your phone has a digital security
system with 65,000 possible code combinations. In the unlikely event
ringing does occur, move the base to another location.
TELEPHONE IS DEAD; NO DIAL TONE
Several situations may cause this. If you have difficulty:
Be sure the handset power switch is on and the handset is in talk
mode.
Be sure the phone line cord is not disconnected from the jack.
Be sure the cord is not damaged.
Be sure the jack is properly wired.
Secure any loose connections.
Be sure your line is in working order (try another phone on the line
or contact your phone company).
CAN RECEIVE BUT NOT MAKE CALLS
Be sure you are in talk mode.
Check whether or not P/T is set correctly. Tone dialing will not
work in a pulse dialing system.
Check the Outgoing Call Restrictor (OCR). Any attempt to dial with
the handset blocked results in a continuous dial tone.
FREQUENT BUSY CHANNELS
In an area where there is a lot of radio activity, try moving the base
away from windows to a more central location within the building.
FREQUENT OUT-OF-RANGE TONES
You may encounter weak zones within the operating range. Often,
continuing to walk away will bring you out of the weak zone. If the
warning tone persists, move closer to the base.
PHONE STILL DOESN'T WORK
Reset your phone as follows:
1. Set POWER ON/OFF to OFF.
2. Disconnect the adapter from the wall outlet, then connect it again.
3. Set POWER ON/OFF to ON.
4. Place the handset on the base for a few seconds.
