12-255, 7 Channel SAME Weatheradio: Enabling/ Disabling Alert Tones

In this tutorial, you will be shown how to turn on and off the alert tones programmed in your Weatheradio. For example, you can turn off the alert tone for a VOLCANO WARNING if you do not live near a volcano.

Note: The Weatheradio still detects and displays the information even after you disable the tone for those alerts. You can set the Weatheradio so it does not sound an alert tone during these types of alerts:

Step 1: Entering Program Mode
 

12-255, display/temperature, keypad/menu

 
To enable or disable alert tones, while the clock appears, press MENU. TEMPERATURE appears in the display.
 
Step 2:  Selecting Weatheradio
 
12-255, display/weatherradio, keypad/up & down arrows
 
Press the UP or DOWN arrow keys until WEATHERADIO appears on the display. 
 
Step 3: Selecting Weatheradio Options
 
12-255, display/select ch, keypad/right arrow
 
Press the RIGHT arrow key. SELECT CH will appear on the display. 
 
Step 4: Selecting TONE DEFEAT
 
12-255, display/tone defeat, keypad/right arrow
 
Repeatedly press the UP or DOWN arrow keys until TONE DEFEAT appears on the display. 
 
Step 5:  Selecting Alert Types
 
12-255, display/warning, keypad/right arrow
 
Press the RIGHT arrow key. WARNING appears on the display.
 
Step 6: Selecting WATCH
 
12-255, display/watchm, keypad/up & down arrows
 
Repeatedly press the UP or DOWN arrow keys to choose through WARNING, TEST, STATEMENT, and WATCH on the display. In this tutorial, we are selecting WATCH. The tables above correspond with each alert type and what will follow on the display when you choose one of the alert types. 
 
Step 7: Selecting Avalanche Watch
 
12-255, display/avalanche-watch, keypad/right, up & down arrows
 
After you have selected an alert type, press the RIGHT arrow key. AVALANCHE WATCH will flash on the display if you have chosen WATCH. A beep sounds. Press the UP or DOWN arrow keys to select the alert. In this tutorial, we stayed with the first alert (AVALANCHE WATCH).
 
Step 8: Enabling or Disabling Alert Tones
 
12-255, display/tone off, keypad/right arrow
 
Press the RIGHT arrow key. TONE OFF will appear on the display.
 
Step 9: Selecting TONE ON
 
12-255, display/tone on, keypad/up & down arrows
 
Press the UP or DOWN arrow keys to select either TONE ON or TONE OFF, depending on whether or not you would like to get a warning for this type of alert.
 
Step 10: Selecting Additional Alert Types
 
12-255, display/coastal-flood-watch, keypad/right arrow
 
Press the RIGHT arrow key to confirm your selection. A beep sounds. The Weatheradio will automatically go to the next type of alert in the WATCH category. COASTAL FLOOD appears on the display.
 
Step 11: Exiting Alert WATCH Mode
 
12-255, display/watch, keypad/left arrow
 
If you are finished making all your selections in the WATCH category, press the LEFT arrow key to return to the previous menu category. WATCH appears on the display again. Repeat Steps 6-11 for each alert type.
 
Step 12: Exiting Programming Mode
 
12-255, display/11:48am, keypad/menu
 
Once you have made all your selections for each alert type, press MENU to exit. The clock appears on the display again.
