12-254, 7 Channel Portable SAME Weatheradio: Setting the Alert Type

In this tutorial, you will be shown how to set the alert types preinstalled in your Weatheradio. You will also be shown how to enable or disable the Missed Alert Reminder. This Weatheradio gives you the choice of TONE or VOICE for your alert type. This tutorial assumes you have already gone through Steps 1 through 5 of Selecting the Weather Channel.

Notes:

In TONE mode, when NOAA broadcasts an alert, the Weatheradio sounds an alert tone for about 5 minutes and displays the alert description until the alert expires.

In VOICE mode, when NOAA broadcasts an alert, the Weatheradio sounds an alert tone for about 8 seconds and displays the alert descriptions. When the alert tone stops, you hear the NOAA weather broadcast for up to 5 minutes, then the Weatheradio returns to standby.

Step 1: Selecting Tone



Press YES to select TONE. MISSED ALERT REMINDER ENABLE flashes on the display. Go to Step 3 to enable or disable the Missed Alert Reminder or continue to Step 2 to select a Voice reminder.


Step 2: Selecting Voice



If you would like to select VOICE, press NO. VOICE flashes on the display. Press YES to confirm. Pressing YES will give you the same display as in Step 1.


Step 3: Selecting ALL LOC



Press YES if you want to enable the missed alert reminder. ALL LOC flashes on the display. See Step 4 to disable the missed alert reminder.


Step 4: Disabling Missed Alert Reminder



Press NO to disable missed alert reminder. MISSED ALERT REMINDER DISABLE flashes on the display. Select YES to confirm. Pressing YES will give you the same display as in Step 3. Go to Programming the FIPS Codes to finish programming your Weatheradio or continue to Step 5 to exit programming mode.


Step 5: Exiting Programming Mode



To exit programming mode, set PROGRAM/ALERT ON/ALERT OFF on the left side of the Weatheradio to ALERT ON or ALERT OFF. *WEATHER* and the corresponding alert status (ALRT OFF or ALRT ON) appears.
