12-253 Desktop Weatheradios: Using the Alarms

In this tutorial, you will be shown how to use the alarms on your Weatheradio. You can set up two independent alarms to sound, and you can choose from an alarm sound or the radio. ALARM 1 is being used in this tutorial.

Step 1: Initializing Program Mode

Hold down ALARM1 or ALARM2 until the display flashes. 
 
Step 2: Setting the Alarm Hour

Repeatedly press or hold down OK/HR until the display shows the correct alarm hour setting.

Note: Within 30 seconds, if you do not press any key, the Weatheradio will quit alarm time setup mode automatically and save all of the alarm settings.

 
Step 3: Setting the Alarm Minute

Repeatedly press or hold down SCROLL/MIN until the display shows the correct alarm minute setting.
 
Step 4: Storing the Alarm Settings

Press ALARM1 or ALARM2 again to store the alarm time setting. The one you press will depend upon which one you used in Step 1. ALARM appears on the left side of the display, the Weatheradio beeps, and the radio turns on.
 
Step 5: Choosing a Band

If the radio is not already set to the band you want to use (AM or FM), select the desired band by pressing AM/FM/OFFIt defaults to AM. AM and an AM frequency appear on the display.
 
Step 6: Selecting the FM Band

To select the FM band, press AM/FM/OFF again. FM and an FM frequency appear on the display.
 
Step 7: Searching the Radio Frequencies
 
12-253, 102.1 MHz 12-253, seek
 
If this is not the frequency you want, press SEEK to automatically search for the next strong frequency. The Weatheradio will automatically stop on that frequency. Press SEEK again to continue searching until you find the frequency that you want to listen to.
 
Step 8: Storing the Radio Frequency

Press ALARM1 or ALARM2 to store the frequency you want.
 
Step 9: Setting AUTO/ALARM to the Alarm Sound or Radio Sound

To wake up to the alarm sound, slide the AUTO/ALARM switch on the back of the Weatheradio to ALARM.

To wake up to the radio sound, slide the AUTO/ALARM switch on the back of the Weatheradio to AUTO.

 
Step 10: Using Snooze

To temporarily silence the alarm (or the radio), press WEATHER/SNOOZE. This silences the alarm (or the radio) for about 10 minutes. You can press WEATHER/SNOOZE as many times as you like.
 
Step 11: Turning off the Alarm

To turn off the alarms, press ALARM1 or ALARM2. This will turn the alarm off until the preset time again. 
 
Step 12: Canceling the Alarms

To cancel the alarms, press ALARM1 or ALARM2 until ALARM1 OFF or ALARM2 OFF flashes on the display three times.
