In this tutorial you will be programming
the desktop Weatheradio. The first time you use your Weatheradio, it is automatically set
to use the NOAA weather broadcast frequency 162.400 MHz (Channel 1) and receive all SAME
alert signals (all locations mode) broadcast within a 50-mile radius of where you
installed it. Your Weatheradio is preprogrammed with seven national NOAA broadcast
frequencies (Channel 1-7). Depending on your location, you might need to select a
different channel.

| Set the ALERT ON/ALERT OFF/PROGRAM
switch on the back of the Weatheradio to PROGRAM. The Weatheradio
flashes the preset weather broadcast channel first, and then the preset frequency number
on the display. Note: If you do
not press a key for about 45 seconds, the Weatheradio exits the programming mode without
storing any changes. To continue, set ALERT ON/ALERT
OFF/PROGRAM back to ALERT OFF, then
start over. |

2: Selecting the Channel |

| Repeatedly press SCROLL/MIN to select the channel
you want, then rotate VOLUME so you can hear the broadcast as you make
your selection. The display flashes the channel you have selected and then the
frequency number for that channel. Note:
If you receive a NOAA broadcast on more than one channel, the one with the best reception
might not be the one broadcasting information for your location. |

| Press OK/HR when you hear the broadcast you want.
The broadcast turns off, the Weatheradio beeps, then either
TONE or VOICE appears. |

| Repeatedly press SCROLL/MIN to select the
alert type you want (TONE or VOICE). |

5: Initializing the Alert Reminder |

| Press OK/HR when you are ready to save the alert
type. MISSED ALERT REMINDER ENABLE or MISSED ALERT
REMINDER DISABLE flashes on the display. In this tutorial,
we only have the last display that flashes. |

| Repeatedly press or hold the SCROLL/MIN to select
the alert reminder you want. In this example, the display shows the Weatheradio
is set to MISSED ALERT
REMINDER DISABLE. In this tutorial, we only have the last display that flashes. |

7: Initializing the FIPS Mode |

Press the OK/HR button to
save the alert reminder. Once you press this button, the display flashes ALL LOC, SINGLE, and MULTIPLE.
These are the three FIPS modes preprogrammed into the scanner.
- ALL LOC: The Weatheradio receives all SAME
alert signals broadcast within about a 50-mile radius.
- SINGLE: The Weatheradio receives a SAME
alert signal for one FIPS code programmed in memory location 1.
- MULTIPLE: The Weatheradio receives a SAME
alert signal for up to 15 FIPS codes programmed in multiple locations in the Weatheradio'
s memory.

| Press the OK/HR button when the FIPS mode you want
appears on the display. If you
selected ALL LOC, the display flashes AVALANCHE
WATCH, then TONE ON. Refer to Enabling/Disabling Alert Tone to turn the tone on or off.
If you selected one of the other FIPS modes, follow the
directions in Steps 10-14.
To exit programming mode go to Step

by pressing OK/HR for the FIPS mode, LOC 1 and
000000 (or the contents of memory location
1, if already programmed) flashes on your

11: Adding a FIPS Code |

| Press SCROLL/MIN to add a FIPS code or change the
displayed FIPS code if you already have one programmed in that location. At this time
_ _ _ _ _ _ appears on the display. If you selected MULTIPLE, go to Step 12, otherwise go to Step 13
to complete programming your FIPS code. |

Skipping Memory Locations |

| If you would like to skip this memory
location and move on to the next, press the OK/HR
button. |

| Step 13: Entering the FIPS Code |
| |

| |
| Repeatedly press the SCROLL/MIN button to select
the first digit of the FIPS code you want to store in this location. |

14: Initializing a FIPS Code |
| |

| Press the OK/HR button to confirm the digit you
entered, then repeat Step 13-14 for each digit of the FIPS
code. After you have entered
all digits for a FIPS code, you hear a confirmation tone, the Weatheradio flashes AVALANCHE
WATCH, then TONE ON, and then the code in the next
memory location (if any) appears. Go back to Step 12 to enter additional FIPS codes.
Note:
- If you make a mistake while entering the code, press CLEAR
to change the last digit. When the incorrect digit disappears, enter the correct
digit.
- If you need to clear all digits in the FIPS code, hold down CLEAR
for about 1 second so that all digits disappear.
