12-253 Desktop Weatheradio: Manually Setting the Time

In this tutorial you will be manually setting the time. When you plug in the Weatheradio and install the backup battery, -- --:-- -- flashes to indicate that the clock is not set up yet. The Weatheradio automatically checks the WWVB time signal, and the small satellite image on the right side of the display flashes slowly. After this automatic check, it checks the time signal 6 times a day at about 2 AM, 3 AM, 4 AM, 9 AM, 3 PM and 9 PM. When it receives a good signal, it automatically sets the time. If the clock does not receive a good radio signal, you will need to set the clock manually, following the steps below.

Step 1: Setting the Clock



Hold down the CLOCK button until the display flashes. Notes: If you do not press any button within 30 seconds, the Weatheradio stores any settings changed to that point and stops the setup mode. A appears when you set an AM time; P appears when you set a PM time.


Step 2: Selecting the Time Zone



Press the button 1-4 (towards the back of the Weatheradio and marked as Time Zone) which corresponds to your time zone: 1 (Pacific) 2 (Mountain) 3 (Central) 4 (Eastern) Zone, a number and a letter (P for Pacific, M for Mountain, C for Central, or E for Eastern) appear. Then, Daylight, Savings then Enable or Disable flash one at a time. See Step 3 for "Setting Up Daylight Savings Time". In this example, we selected 3 for Central Time.


Step 3: Setting Up Daylight Savings Time



Repeatedly press the SCROLL/MIN button until either ENABLE (to turn on the daylight savings time adjustment), or DISABLE (to turn off the adjustment) appears on your display.


Step 4: Storing the Time Zone Settings



Press the OK/HR button to store the setting.


Step 5: Setting the Hour



Repeatedly press or hold down the OK/HR button until the correct hour appears on the display. The hours go from AM to PM.


Step 6: Setting the Minutes



Repeatedly press or hold down the SCROLL/MIN button until the correct minute appears on the display.


Step 7: Storing the Current Time Settings



Press CLOCK to store the settings.
