Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer w/Dual Display
(630-1024) Installation Faxback Doc. # 52868

Installing the Battery

Your thermometer requires one AA battery (not supplied) for power. for
the best performance and longest life, we recommend a RadioShack alkaline
battery.

CAUTION: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and recommended
          type.

Follow these steps to install a battery.

1. Pull the table stand down to remove it, then press down and slide the
    battery compartment cover off.

2. Place the battery in the compartment according to the polarity symbols
    (+ and -) marked inside.

The thermometer briefly displays MAX, MIN, MEM, and -188.8 degrees E
(test characters), then the indoor and outdoor temperatures appear.

3. Replace the cover.

Notes: If the thermometer does not operate after you install the battery,
        simply remove and reinstall it.

If the display dims or disappears, or if the thermometer stops
        working properly, replace the battery.

WARNING: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or
          bury them.

CAUTION: Always remove an old or weak battery. Batteries can leak
chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.

Mounting

You can set the thermometer on any flat surface (such as a table or
counter top) using its table stand. Or, you can mount it on the wall
using a screw (not supplied).

Selecting a Location

Choose a location indoors that is near a window, so you can route the
remote sensor outside.

CAUTIONS: Do not place the thermometer or remote sensor where either will
           be in direct sunlight.

Keep the thermometer and sensor away from hot or cold sources
such as stoves, heating and air conditioning vents, and
           radiators.

Do not place the thermometer in water or in a location where it
is likely to get wet. Only the remote sensor and its cord are
           waterproof.

Mounting the Thermometer

To set the thermometer on a flat surface, insert the supplied stand into
the slots on the bottom of the thermometer. The thermometer tilts for
easy viewing.

To mount the thermometer on a wall, you need a 1/8-inch (3 mm) screw (not
supplied) with a head that fits into the keyhole slot on the back of the
thermometer.

Follow these steps to mount the thermometer on a wall.

1. Drill a hole in the wall at the desired mounting location.

2. Thread a screw into the wall until the head extends about 1/8-inch
    from the wall.

3. Position the keyhole slot on the back of the thermometer over the
screw and slide the thermometer down until it is secure.

Mounting the Outdoor Sensor

To mount the sensor, you need a small nail or screw (not supplied) with a
head that fits the remote sensor's metal loop.

1. Route the sensor and its cord through the window.

CAUTIONS: Do not cut, pinch, shorten, or lengthen the sensor's wire.

Be sure the route the sensor's wire out of the way of
               normal activities.

2. Drive a small nail or screw into the sensor's mounting location.

3. Hang the sensor's metal loop on the nail or screw.
