Installing The Battery

Your Indoor/Outdoor Car Thermometer comes with an LR44 button-cell battery
that you need to install.

WARNING: Keep batteries out of reach of children. Swallowing a button
          cell battery can be fatal.

Follow these steps to install the battery.

CAUTIONS: Use only a fresh battery of the required size and recommended
           type.

Always remove an old or weak battery. Batteries leak chemicals
           that can destroy electronic parts.

Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or
           bury them.

1. Slide the mounting bracket off the thermometer.

2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw from the battery
compartment cover, then lift up the cover.

3. Insert the battery into the battery compartment with the positive (+)
    side facing up.

4. Replace the cover, then reinsert and tighten the screw.

If the thermometer stops operating properly or the backlight dims, replace
the battery. We recommend RadioShack Cat. No. 23-115.

Mounting

You can mount the thermometer in your vehicle using the supplied bracket,
or place the thermometer on a flat surface using its built-in stand. For
measuring the outside temperature, the thermometer's sensor cord extends
up to 10 feet.

CAUTIONS: Do not mount the thermometer or sensor where they will be in
           direct sunlight.

Do not place the thermometer in water or in a location where it
is likely to get wet. Only the sensor and its cord are water
           resistant.

Using the Mounting Bracket

1. Slide the mounting bracket off the thermometer.

2. Peel the backing from the adhesive strips on the back or the bracket.
Firmly press the bracket against a clean surface.

3. To mount the sensor to the right of the thermometer, redirect the cord
by pressing it into the groove on the back of the thermometer.

4. Slide the thermometer down into the bracket until it snaps into place.

Using the Large Suction Cup

1. Disassemble the large suction cup by rotating the wing shaped sensor
clip counter clockwise until it is loose, and remove it. Then lift off
    the cup shaped backing.

2. Firmly press the suction cup against a clean, flat glass or metal
surface on the outside of your vehicle.

CAUTION: When mounting the suction cup on a vehicle's windshield, be
sure you place it out of the windshield wiper path to avoid
damaging the sensor and also to avoid blocking your vision.

3. Place the cup shaped backing over the screw on the suction cup then
turn the wing shaped sensor clip clockwise so the backing tightens
    against the suction cup.

4. Insert the sensor through the side opening on either side of the
    sensor clip.

5. Place any excess cord out of the way inside the vehicle.

CAUTION: Be sure the sensor's cord is not pinched or placed where it
is likely to get worn or damaged easily.

To remove the suction cup, unscrew the sensor clip by turning it
counterclockwise to remove it. Then lift off the cup shaped backing and
grasp the outer edge of the suction cup, then pull the cup away from the
mounting surface.

Using the Small Suction Cup

To mount the thermometer's sensor in a small or confined area, use the
small suction cup. Press the suction cup's base against a clean glass or
metal surface, then insert the tip of the sensor into the sleeve on the
back of the suction cup.

On the Car Window

To mount the thermometer's sensor so it clips at the top of a vehicle
window, for example, insert the sensor into the opening of the supplied
metal clip. Then slide the metal clip over the edge of the desired
surface so it stays firmly in place (the sensor should be outside the
window). Roll up your window until it is almost closed. This secures
the metal clip so it does not fall off.

Using the Stand

To set the thermometer on a flat surface, slide the thermometer out of its
mounting bracket and pull the built-in stand away from the back of the
thermometer.
