Listening To The Radio
In addition to regular AM and FM bands, you can use your radio to listen
to audio from TV stations, as well as weather broadcasts in the 162 MHz
range.
1. Press POWER to turn on the radio.
2. Repeatedly press BAND until the desired band (AM, FM, TV or WX)
appears.
3. Use TUNING /\ or \/ to select the desired station.
Manual Tuning: Repeatedly press TUNING /\ or \/ to tune up or down
the selected band. (To start rapidly tuning the band, hold down
TUNING /\ or \/. To stop rapidly tuning, press TUNING /\ or \/.)
Seek Tuning: Hold down TUNING /\ or \/ for about 1 second. The radio
automatically tunes to the next higher or lower station with a strong
signal.
Notes: If no strong signal is found, press TUNING /\ or \/ to stop
tuning.
For the best FM/TV audio/weather reception, fully uncoil the
earphones' or headphones' core, or fully extend the FM/TV/WX
antenna.
The AM antenna is built-in. Move the radio to improve AM
reception.
To improve the reception of a weak FM station, set STEREO/MONO
to MONO. The sound changes from stereo to monaural, but
reception should improve.
Set E-BASS to ON for an enhance bass effect, or OFF for normal
bass sound.
4. Adjust VOLUME to the desired listening level.
5. To turn off the radio, press POWER again.
Using The Memory
You can store up to 40 stations in memory (10 each in the FM, AM, TV and
WX bands). Follow these steps to store a station into memory.
1. Tune to the band and station you want to store.
2. Press MEM/CLOCK. M flashes.
3. Within 5 seconds, repeatedly press SELECT until the number (1-10 in
each band) for the desired memory location appears.
4. Press MEM/CLOCK again. The station is now stored in that memory
location.
Note: If you do not store the station within 5 seconds, M disappears.
Repeat Steps 2-4.
To tune to a store station, repeatedly press SELECT until the numbers for
the desired memory location and the station appear.
Using Lock/Unlock
To avoid accidentally turning the radio on or off, or changing the
station, time, or alarm settings (while you are carrying it in a pocket or
purse, for example), you can set LOCK/UNLOCK to LOCK.
To use all of the radio's features again, set LOCK/UNLOCK back to UNLOCK.
Using The Daily Alarm
You can set an alarm so the alarm will sound at the same time every day,
and you can turn the alarm on or off.
1. Press ALARM. (((. and the current alarm time appear, and the display
flashes.
2. Repeatedly press or hold down TUNING /\ to set the alarm hour.
Note: PM appears during PM hours.
3. Repeatedly press TUNING \/ to set the alarm minute. (To rapidly
advance the setting, hold down TUNING /\ or \/.)
4. The radio stores the alarm time 5 seconds after the last keypress.
Press ALARM again to store it sooner.
The alarm sounds at the set time. Press POWER or ALARM to turn it off.
The alarm sounds at the same time the next day.
To turn off the alarm so it does not sound at the set time, hold down
ALARM until (((. disappears. To turn the alarm on again, hold down ALARM
until (((. appears.
Setting The Sleep Timer
Follow these steps to have the radio play for up to 90 minutes then
automatically turn off.
1. Tune to the desired band and station.
2. Press POWER to turn off the radio.
3. Press SLEEP. 90 appears briefly and SLEEP appears steadily on the
display and the radio turns on.
4. To reduce the sleep time, repeatedly press SLEEP. Each time you press
SLEEP, the sleep time is reduced by 10 minutes. (The minimum sleep
time you can have is 10 minutes.)
The radio automatically turns off and SLEEP disappears when the sleep time
is up. To turn it off sooner, press POWER again.
