Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer
(630-1021) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 44754
Installing A Battery
Your thermometer requires one AA battery (not supplied) for power. For the
best performance and longest life, we recommend an alkaline battery, such as
Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552.
CAUTION: Always use a fresh battery of the required size and recommended
type.
Follow these steps to install a battery:
1. Press down and slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of
the arrow to remove it.
2. Place the battery in the compartment according to the polarity symbols
(+ and -) marked inside.
The thermometer briefly displays MAX, MIN, MEM and -188.8 Degrees E
(test characters), then the current temperatures appear.
3. Replace the cover.
NOTES: If the thermometer does not operate after you install the battery,
simply remove and re-install it.
If the display dims or disappears, or if the thermometer stops
working properly, replace the battery.
WARNING: Always dispose of an old battery promptly and properly; do not
burn or bury it.
Mounting
Choosing Locations
To mount the thermometer, choose a location indoors near a window (through
which you can route the sensor's cord) and within 10 feet of where you plan
to mount the remote sensor outdoors.
CAUTIONS: Do not place the thermometer or remote sensor where either will
be in direct sunlight.
Keep the thermometer and sensor away from hot or cold sources
such as stoves, heating and air conditioning vents and radiators.
Do not place the thermometer in water or in a location where it
is likely to get wet. Only the remote sensor and its cord are
waterproof.
Mounting the Thermometer
You can set the thermometer on any flat surface (such as a table or counter
top) using its built-in stand. Or, you can mount it on the wall using a
screw (not supplied).
To set the thermometer on a flat surface, lift up the thermometer and pull
the stand away from the back of it.
To mount the thermometer using the keyhole slot on the back of the thermo-
meter, drive a screw (with a head that fits into the keyhole slot) into the
wall until the head extends about 1/8 inch from the wall. Then place the
keyhole slot on the back of the thermometer over the screw and slide the
thermometer down until it locks into place.
Mounting the Sensor
NOTE: To mount the sensor, you need a nail or screw (not supplied) with a
head no larger than the sensor's metal loop.
1. Route the sensor and its cord through the window.
2. Drive a small nail or screw into the sensor's mounting location.
3. Hang the sensor's metal loop on the nail or screw.
