Changing The Degree Format
You can display the temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. Slide the
protective front cover down. Then slide the format switch to F degrees or
C degrees.
Adjusting The Volume
The thermometer has three volume settings: high, low and off.
To set the volume, press VOLUME repeatedly until VOL (for high), VOL (for
low), or no symbol (for off) appears. You also hear 3 beeps for the high
volume setting, and 2 for low volume.
Changing The Displays
You can see different combinations of time and temperature on the display.
To change the displays, repeatedly press MODE.
NOTE: Be sure the thermometer's volume is on so you can hear the beeps.

Hearing The Current Indoor and Outdoor Temperatures
To hear the thermometer announce the current indoor and outdoor tempera-
tures, simply press TALK.
Setting The Time
1. Repeatedly press MODE until you hear one beep and the time appears on
the lower display and the indoor temperature appears on the upper
display.
2. Repeatedly press HR SET to set the correct hour. The thermometer beeps
each time you press HR SET. To advance the setting quickly, hold down
HR SET for 4 seconds. Continue to hold it down as the thermometer
advances.
NOTE: PM appears for PM hours.
3. Repeatedly press MIN SET to set the correct minute. The thermometer
beeps each time you press MIN SET. To advance the setting quickly, hold
down MIN SET for 4 seconds. Continue to hold it down as the thermometer
advances.
After you set the time, you can use MODE to change the displays. See
"Changing the Displays" above.
Using The Wakeup Alarm
You can use the thermometer as a WAKEUP alarm by setting it to announce the
indoor and outdoor temperatures at a preset time. When the alarm is turned
on, the thermometer beeps and announces the indoor and outdoor temperatures
five times at the preset alarm time. Then it announces the temperatures
once very 15 minutes for 45 minutes.
Follow these steps to set the wakeup alarm time and turn the alarm on.
NOTE: Make sure the volume is set to ON.
1. Repeatedly press MODE until the current time appears on the upper dis-
play and the alarm time appears on the lower display with AL between
the hour and minute.
2. Repeatedly Press HR SET to set the alarm hour. To advance the setting
quickly, hold down HR SET for 4 seconds. Continue to hold it down as
the setting advances.
3. Repeatedly press MIN SET to set the minute. To advance the setting
quickly, hold down MIN SET for 4 seconds. Continue to hold it down as
the setting advances.
4. After you set the alarm time, you can use MODE to change the displays.

5. Press ALARM ON/OFF to turn on the alarm. BELL appears on both displays,
and the thermometer beeps two times.
To silence an announcement while it is sounding, press TALK or MODE. The
alarm cycle continues until the alarm is turned off.
To turn off the alarm completely, press ALM ON/OFF so (BELL) disappears.
Turning The Hourly Temperature Announcement ON or OFF
When you install the thermometer's batteries, the thermometer is automatic-
ally set to announce the indoor and outdoor temperatures at the beginning
of each hour.
To turn off the hourly announcement, slide HR REPORT to OFF. (((.)))
disappears on both displays. To turn the hourly announcement back on,
slide HR REPORT to ON.
NOTE: To prevent disturbing your sleep, the thermometer will not announce
the temperatures between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM even if HR REPORT is
set to ON. However, you can still use the WAKEUP alarm between 9:00
PM and 7:00 AM.
Daily Min/Max
You can set your thermometer to display and announce the highest and lowest
indoor and outdoor temperatures since midnight and display the time when
each temperature occurred.

To return to the previous display settings, repeatedly press DAILY MIN/MAX
until they reappear. Or, wait 1 minute for the previous display setting to
reappear.
Manual Min/Max
You can clear the thermometer's record of minimum and maximum indoor and
outdoor temperatures and begin recording new minimum and maximum tempera-
tures.
1. Press CLEAR. The thermometer begins recording new minimum and maximum
indoor and outdoor temperatures.
2. To hear and see the minimum and maximum indoor temperatures anytime
after clearing the memory, repeatedly press MANUAL MIN/MAX until IN
appears on both displays. The thermometer announces the minimum and
maximum indoor temperatures. The maximum temperature appears on the
upper display and the minimum temperature on the lower display.
3. To hear and see the maximum and minimum outdoor temperatures anytime
after clearing the memory, repeatedly press MANUAL MIN/MAX until OUT
appears on both displays.
To return to the previous display setting, press MANUAL MIN/MAX one more
time after OUT appears. Or, wait about 1 minute for the previous display
setting to reappear.
High Temperature and Freezing Point Alerts
The thermometer alerts you when either the indoor or outdoor temperature
goes above 100 degrees F (38 degrees C) or below 32 degrees F (0 degrees C).
If either temperature reaches 100 degrees F, the thermometer announces the
temperature three times and (LIGHT) flashes on the display continuously.
(LIGHT) disappears when the temperature returns to the normal range.
If either temperature drops to 32 degrees F, the thermometer announces the
temperature three times and (snow symbol) flashes on the display contin-
uously. (snow symbol) disappears when the temperature returns to the normal
range.
The Sampling Cycle
Your thermometer is preset to measure the temperature and update the
display every 60 seconds. However, when you press any of the control
panel's buttons, the thermometer automatically updates the indoor and
outdoor temperatures every 10 seconds for the next 5 minutes.
