Temperature Alert Thermometer with Remote Sensor
(630-1011) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 19309

INSTALLING A BATTERY

Your thermometer requires one AAA battery (not supplied). We recommend an
alkaline battery, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-555.

CAUTION: Always use a fresh battery of the required size and type.

1. To remove the battery compartment cover, slide it in the direction of
    the arrow.

2. Insert the battery into the compartment as indicated by the polarity
symbols (+ and -) marked inside.

3. Replace the cover. The thermometer displays - 188E then the current
    temperature.

NOTES: Occasionally, the thermometer might not operate after you install
the battery. If this occurs, simply remove and re-install the
        battery.

Depending on the sampling cycle setting, the thermometer might take
up to 60 seconds to display a rapid temperature change (see
"Setting the Sampling Cycle"). (Faxback Doc. # 19308, Operation).

Replace the battery when the display dims or F or C flashes on the
        display.

CAUTION: Always dispose of an old battery promptly and properly.

MOUNTING THE THERMOMETER AND REMOTE SENSOR

Choosing Locations

To mount the remote sensor outdoors, choose a location near a window and
within 10 feet of the thermometer so the sensor's cord can reach through
the window to the thermometer's jack inside the battery compartment.

CAUTIONS: Do not place the thermometer or remote sensor where they will be
           in direct sunlight.

Keep the thermometer and sensor away from hot or cold sources
such as stoves, heating and air conditioning vents, and
           radiators.

Do not place the thermometer in water or in a location where it
is likely to get wet. Only the remote sensor and its cord are
           waterproof.

Mounting the Remote Sensor

1. Drive a nail or screw (not supplied) into the sensor's mounting
    location.

2. Hang the sensor's attached wire loop on the nail/screw.

3. If you are mounting the sensor outdoors, route the sensor's cord
through a window and to the jack inside the thermometer's battery
    compartment.

Mounting the Thermometer

To mount the thermometer on a wall, drive a screw (not supplied) into the
wall until the head extends 1/8 inch from the wall. Place the keyhole
slot on the back of the thermometer over the screw, then slide the
thermometer down until it locks into place.

Your Thermometer also has a stand built into its battery compartment cover.
To stand the thermometer on a flat surface, lift up the thermometer and
pull the stand away from the back of it.
