Six-In-One Weather Station
(630-0868) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 18074
ASSEMBLING THE WEATHER STATION
1. Slide the clear rain gauge cylinder into the weather station.
2. Hold the compass face-up, then slide it all the way onto the metal
swivel axle.
3. Insert the swivel axle into the small round opening on the bottom of
the weather station, then slide it in until it stops.
4. Be sure the station rotates (spins) freely on the axle, then attach
the c-shaped stopper to the top end of the swivel axle.
MOUNTING THE WEATHER STATION
For permanent use, you can mount your weather station outdoors at the edge
of a fence or table, or on a flat surface (such as a picnic table). If
you like, you can simply hold the weather station in your hand as you
measure the weather.
CAUTION: If you plan to use the weather station during bad weather
conditions (such as rain, thunderstorms, strong wind, etc.), for
safety's sake, we recommend that you mount your weather station
rather than holding it in your hand.
Choosing a Location
For the best performance, follow these hints to help you choose the right
mounting location for your weather station:
To get the most accurate temperature readings, do not mount the
station where it will be in direct or reflected sunlight.
Choose a location that is shaded, but not blocked-in on the top or
sides. You want to be sure that the wind and rain can freely reach
your weather station.
To avoid false temperature readings, do not mount the weather station
on or close to a surface that easily absorbs or reflects heat, such as
a building or window.
To avoid false rainfall readings caused by water splashes, do not
mount the station too close to the ground or a swimming pool.
Holding the Weather Station in Your Hand
To take a quick measurement of the weather conditions without permanently
mounting your weather station, you can attach the supplied plastic handle
to the weather station so you can carry it in your hand.
To attach the handle, simply insert the supplied machine screws through
the holes on both the handle and the weather station, then tighten the
screws with the supplied nuts.
NOTE: Make sure the bolts are tightened down within the edges of the
plastic handle.
Mounting at the Edge of a Fence or Table
1. Place the weather station at the edge of a fence or table so the level
indicator points directly to the mark below it.
NOTE: If the weather station is not mounted in a level position, you
might get inaccurate measurements.
2. Insert a 1/2- or 1-inch screw (supplied) into each hole on the metal
swivel and use a Phillips screwdriver to drive the screws into the
mounting location.
Mounting on a Flat Surface
1. Assemble the supplied 3-part mounting stand as shown.
2. Insert the metal swivel axle into the stand's opening so the weather
station stands straight up.
3. Using the supplied 1/4-inch machine screws and nuts, fasten the
weather station onto the stand.
4. Place the assembled weather station and stand on a flat surface at the
desired location so the level indicator points directly to the mark
below it.
NOTE: If the weather station is not mounted in a level position, you
might get inaccurate measurements.
5. Insert a 1/2- or 1-inch screw (supplied) into each hole on the stand
and use a Phillips screwdriver to drive the screws into the mounting
location.
