Tournament Bowling
(600-2683) Operation Faxback Doc. # 53224

Turning the Sound OFF/ON

Press SOUND to turn the sound ON or OFF at any time during the game. The
sound symbol appears on the right side of the screen when the sound is ON.

Object of the Game

The object of the game is to knock down as many pins as possible! Each
game has ten frames and for each frame you get two balls to bowl. Each
set of pins is called a rack. You score one point for every pin you knock
down.

Knocking down all the pins with the first ball is called a strike. If you
get a strike, your score for that frame is ten plus the number of pins you
knock down with your next two balls. A square appears in the upper right
hand corner if you get a strike.

Knocking down some of the pins in a frame with the first ball, then the
remaining pins with the second ball, is called a spare. If you get a
spare, your score for that frame is ten plus the number of pins you knock
down with your next ball in the next frame. A triangle appears in the
upper right hand corner if you get a spare. The game keeps score
automatically and updates it under SCORE after each frame. When the game
ends, your final score appears under HIGHEST SCORE only when it is higher
than any previous score.

Playing the Game

1. Press MODE/ON to turn on the game. The triangle above the display
flashes after you turn on the game, showing each of the ten pins lit
in the frame. (As you knock down the pins, their lights go out.)

2. Repeatedly press MODE/ON until you see CHAMP at the top of the
display. You can select a one- or two-player game in the CHAMP
setting. Repeatedly press MODE/ON until you see PLAYER ONE or
PLAYER TWO (or both) in the bottom left hand corner of the display.

Note: Tournament Bowling is preset to one-player game in the practice
mode. (See "Practice Game," below for how to set up your own
pin pattern and practice your bowling skills.)

3. A bowler appears at the bottom of the screen ready to bowl. Press or
hold down POWER until you see the desired number of power bars. The
power bars show how much power there is behind the ball that you are
throwing. The longer you hold down POWER, the more emphasis you have.

4. The bowler bowls the ball. A triangle appears, indicating over which
mark the ball is being bowled.

5. To control the direction of the ball before it goes into the blue
area, repeatedly press LEFT or RIGHT.

Notes: If you throw a ball that goes in the gutter, it does not knock
            down any pins.

The arrows on the top of the display show the direction of
            spin on the ball.

6. Repeat Steps 3-5 to bowl each frame of the game. If two players are
playing, PLAYER ONE or PLAYER TWO appears to indicate whose turn it is
    to bowl.

7. To quit and save the game in memory, do not press a key for about 2
minutes. The game shuts off automatically.

Notes: To resume your last game, press MODE/ON.

To reset for a new game at any time during play, press MODE/ON
        then PIN/RESET.

Practice Game

In the practice mode, you can sharpen your bowling skills by picking up

2. Press LEFT or RIGHT to select a pin. The selected pin flashes.

5. After setting the pin pattern, press POWER to start the game.

6. To quit the practice game and begin a champion game, press MODE/ON
repeatedly until you see your desired play mode.
