Connecting Power
Installing Batteries
You can use four AA batteries (not supplied) for power. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-552.
1. Press in the tab on the battery compartment cover, then lift the cover
to remove it.
2. Put the batteries in the compartment, matching the polarity symbols (+
and -) marked inside.
CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and
recommended type.
Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of
batteries (standard, alkaline, or re-chargeable), or
rechargeable batteries of different capacities.
3. Replace the cover and be sure it snaps into place.
If the Laptop's sound weakens or the display dims, replace all four batteries.
CAUTIONS: Never leave dead or weak batteries in the Laptop. Batteries
can leak chemicals that can damage electronic parts.
If you do not plan to use the Laptop for a week or more, remove
the batteries.
Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Never burn or
bury them.
Using an AC Adapter
You can power the Laptop from a standard AC outlet, using an optional AC adapter, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 273-1455.
CAUTIONS: You must use an AC adapter that supplies 9 volts and delivers
at least 300 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to
negative, and its plug must correctly fit the DC 9V IN jack on
the side of the Laptop. The recommended adapter meets these
specifications. Using an adapter that does not meet these
requirements could damage the Laptop or the adapter.
Always plug the AC adapter into the Laptop before you plug it
into an AC outlet.
Insert the AC adapter's 5.5 mm outer diameter/2.1 mm inner diameter barrel plug into the Laptop's DC 9V IN jack. Then plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. The batteries are automatically disconnected.
CAUTION: When you are finished using the Laptop, turn it off and unplug
the adapter from the AC outlet before unplugging it from the
Laptop. Do not leave the Laptop plugged in when you are not
using it.
Connecting The Mouse
Slide the mouse jack's cover at the back of the Laptop to the left, then plug the cable's connector into the mouse jack.
