INSTALLING BATTERIES

CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended
           type.

Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries
(standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable
           batteries of different capacities.

Never leave dead or weak batteries in the truck.

If you do not plan to use the truck for several days, remove
           the batteries.

Dispose of batteries properly; do not bury or burn them.

Installing the Truck's Batteries

You need two AA batteries (not supplied) to power the truck. We recommend
alkaline batteries, such as RadioShack Cat.No. 23-552. Follow these steps
to install the batteries.

1. Set OFF/ON on the back of the truck to OFF.

2. Use a coin to twist the slot beside the battery compartment cover on
the bottom of the truck. Then lift up the cover to open it.

CAUTION: The battery compartment cover is hinged. Do not try to
              remove it.

3. Install the batteries in the compartment on top of the ribbon, as
indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside.

4. Close the cover and make sure it snaps shut.

If the truck moves slowly or not at all, gently pull the ribbon to remove
the batteries, then replace them with fresh ones.

Installing the Controller's Battery

You need one 9-volt battery (not supplied) to power the controller. We
recommend an alkaline battery, such as RadioShack Cat. No. 23-553.

1. While pressing down on the battery compartment cover, slide it off to
    remove it.

2. Put the battery in the compartment as indicated by the polarity
symbols (+ and -) marked inside.

3. Replace the cover. Be sure it snaps into place.

If the motor runs, but the truck does not respond to the controller,
replace the controller's 9-volt battery.
