there is a 15-minute time limit and the high score is stored in memory.

conditions.

Seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter

Time AM, PM

Place Europe, North America, Australia, Canada, Japan

             Abu Atom, Atlantic

Bait Crabs, Lugworms, Squid, Cheese, Potatoes, Caster, Shrimps,
             Mackerel, Bread

Wind East, South, West, North

Follow these steps to select the fishing conditions.

1. After turning on the game and selecting practice or tournament, press
Mode/Select. The first fishing condition (WEATHER) appears.

Note: If you select a tournament game, you must select the level and
number of players and the players' names first before setting
           the fishing conditions.

2. For each condition, repeatedly press Enter to scroll through the
options, then Mode/Select to confirm your choice. The next condition
    appears.

3. After you select the last condition (WIND), READY! appears. If you
are playing a practice game, you are ready to cast. If you selected
tournament play, see "Tournament Game" below before you cast.

To check the fishing condition settings at any time, press Report.

CASTING

To start the game, press Start/Retrieve when READY! appears. CAST!
flashes on the display. Lift the game back, then whip it forward sharply
as if you were casting a real fishing line. The Line Out meter shows your
casting distance and Lure Depth shows the lure's depth. Reel the handle
to control the lure's depth.

Note: The distance for casting is 21-99 feet.

WAITING FOR A BITE

While you wait for a bite, watch the radar screen to see where the fish
are. Your line is at the center of the screen.

If there is no bite for a long time, press Start/Retriever to retrieve the
line, then cast again.

Setting The Hook

When a fish bites, the game shakes and A BITE! flashes on the display.
Pull the game sharply up and back to set the hook and keep the fish on the
line.

If the game continues shaking and A BITE! continues flashing, you have the
fish on the line. Reel the handle clockwise quickly to bring in the fish.
(See "Controlling the Drag" below.)

If the unit stops shaking and A BITE! disappears, you lost the fish. Wait
for another BITE, or press Start/Retrieve and cast again.

CONTROLLING THE DRAG

As you reel in a fish, watch the Line Tension meter. If the line tension
exceeds 70, the line breaks and the fish escapes. If the line tension
falls below 30, the line gets too loose and the fish escapes.

If the line tension approaches 30 or 70, DRAG! flashes to warn you. Slide
the Drag lever up to increase the tension, or down to decrease it.

If the fish gets away, press Start/Retrieve and get ready to cast again.

LANDING THE FISH

Once you land the fish (when Lure Depth reaches 00), the display shows the
species and weight of the fish you caught.

If you catch the largest fish ever recorded by your Gone Fishing game, you
become the record holder! Press Report at any time to check the highest
record. The weight of the largest fish caught appears.

Notes: Different fishing sites have different species of fish. There are
over 20 species of fish you can catch, with the largest weighting
        300 kg.

To clear the fishing conditions and high score from your Gone
Fishing game, use a pointed object (such as a straightened paper
clip) to press the Reset hole.

TOURNAMENT GAME

In a Tournament game, there is a 15-minute time limit and the high score
is stored in memory. There are three levels of tournament play:

Junior - The easiest level. Many fish are available.

Advanced - Fewer fish are available and they can swim away more easily.

Expert - You might encounter turbulence, jelly fish, or sharks which
cause the fish to scatter when they appear. If this happens,
your remaining time is reduced by about two minutes and you
           must cast again.

Follow these steps to play a Tournament game.

1. After turning on the game, press GAME to play a tournament game.
SELECT GAME LEVEL and JUNIOR? appear.

2. If necessary, repeatedly press Mode/Select to scroll through the
levels (Junior, Advanced, or Expert), then press Enter to confirm the
level you selected. The game asks you to enter the number of players.

3. Repeatedly press Mode/Select to choose the number of the players
    (1-4), then press Enter.

4. To enter a player's name, slide Drag up or down to choose each letter,
then press Mode/Select to confirm it. When you have entered up to 6
letters of the name, press Enter to store it. Then repeat the process
to enter other names, if you selected more than one player.

5. After you enter the last player's name, READY! appears. Press Mode/
Select to select the fishing conditions (see "Setting Fishing
Conditions" above, or Start/Retrieve to begin play. CAST! Flashes on
the display and the countdown clock appears.

Play is the same as in a practice game, except each player has 15
minutes to play. The object of the game is to catch as many kilograms
of fish as possible. The player that catches the fish with the
    highest total weight wins.
