Your computer has 64 built-in opening lines of play that you can view and
study. You can select any opening line and analyze it, then take back or
replay a displayed move.
Follow these steps to select an opening game line while it is your turn to
move.
1. Press FUNCTION then STUDIES to select the first opening line of play.
The display shows ruY LoPE:_ (the Ruy Lopez (A1) opening game) and the
positions of all pieces after that opening game. The symbol for the
piece that made the last move in the opening game flashes alternately
between its FROM and TO square.
2. To select another opening game, find an opening game you want to view
in "Opening Game Lines of Play" below, then press its square on the
game board to select it.
For example, if you want to select the Sicilian Defense, press square
C8.
Or, repeatedly press STUDIES to select another opening game.
Note: "Opening Game Lines of Play" below, shows the following
information:
The square you press to select an opening game line of play.
The displayed name of the line of play.
The moves that result in the board position you see after
you select an opening game.
3. Repeatedly press WHITE/- to take back or BLACK/+ to replay the
displayed moves.
4. Press ENTER to play with the board position shown on the display or
CLEAR to return to the previous board position.
