1. Press ON/OFF to turn on the game. LEVEL 1 and .))) appear on the
display.
2. Repeatedly press LEVEL to choose the desired difficulty level for
playing against the computer. Level 1 if for the beginning player,
Level 2 is for intermediate, and Level 3 is for the advanced player.
Or, press PLAYER to play against another person.
Note:
Press PLAYER again if you want to play against the computer.
3. Press START to begin. A melody sounds and it is your turn to place
your piece on the board.
Note:
If you want your opponent to make the first move, press PASS, then
START. The computer takes the black pieces and moves first. Your
pieces become white in this game.
4. Use the arrow keys to select the square where you want to place your
piece. Markers on the left side and on top of the screen show the row
and column you selected. A flashing black piece shows the current
square.
5. After you choose your desired square, press ENTER. The computer
places your piece there and turns the captured pieces into your color.
Then it's your opponent's turn to make a move.
Notes:
If you selected a square that is already occupied, an error tone
sounds. You cannot place a piece on an occupied square.
The current score is shown under SCORE in the bottom right corner of
the display. The two digits on the left are the number of pieces you
have and the two digits on the right are the number of pieces your
opponent has.
If there is no legal move you can make, PASS! flashes on the screen
and you must press PASS to continue. Your opponent moves.
(You cannot pass if there is a legal move available.)
When it is the computer's turn, ? briefly appears on the display to
indicate the computer is considering its move.
If your computer opponent cannot make a move, PASS! briefly appears on
the screen then you can make your move.
To temporarily stop the game, press ON/OFF. To turn on the game and
continue play, press ON/OFF again. The game resumes where you left
off.
To start a new game before the current game is over, press LEVEL and
repeat Steps 2-5.
6. When the game board is filled, or if neither player can move legally,
the game is over. GAME OVER! appears on the display and a melody
plays. The digits on the left under SCORE flash if you won, or those
on the right flash if your opponent won.
