PREPARATION
CONNECTING POWER
For portable use, you can power the Talking Professor with batteries.
Using an optional AC adapter, you can also power it from a standard
AC outlet.
Installing Batteries
Your Talking Professor requires four AA batteries for power
(not supplied). For the best performance and longest life, we
recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552.
Cautions:
Do not use rechargeable batteries.
Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries
(standard or alkaline).
1. To remove the battery compartment cover, press the tab on the cover in
the direction of the arrow, then remove the cover.
2. Put the batteries into the compartment, matching the polarity symbols
(+ and -) marked inside the compartment.
3. Replace the cover and be sure that it snaps into place.
Notes:
If you do not plan to use the Talking Professor for a week or more,
remove the batteries.
If the sound weakens or the display dims, replace all four batteries.
Cautions:
Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type.
Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Never burn or bury a
battery.
Using an AC Adapter
You can power the Talking Professor from a standard AC outlet using an
AC adapter (not supplied), such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 273-1455.
Cautions:
You must use an AC adapter that supplies 9 volts and delivers at least
300 milliamps, and its plug must properly fit the DC 9V 300 mA jack on
the side of the keyboard. The recommended adapter meets these
requirements. Using an adapter that does not meet these requirements
could damage the Talking Professor or the adapter.
Always plug the AC adapter into the Talking Professor before you plug
it into the AC outlet.
Follow these steps to connect an AC adapter to your Talking Professor.
1. Insert the AC adapter's 5.5 mm outer diameter/ 2.1 mm inner diameter
barrel plug into the Talking Professor's DC 9V 300mA jack.
2. Plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet.
Caution:
When you are finished using the Talking Professor, turn it off and
unplug the adapter from the AC outlet before unplugging it from the
Talking Professor. Do not leave the Talking Professor plugged in when
you are not using it.
