PLAYING THE QUICK TOUCH
TURNING THE GAME ON/OFF
To turn on the Quick Touch, press ON/MODE. Arrows appear next to SYMBOL,
SINGLE PLAYER, and LEVEL 1, then it says "Hello, welcome to the game."
NOTE: If you stop playing with the Quick Touch, it automatically turns
itself off after about 4 minutes to save battery power. To turn it
back on, press ON/MODE.
To turn off the Quick Touch, press OFF.
ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
You can set the Quick Touch's volume (loudness) to three different levels.
Set SOUND to LO for the lowest volume, to MID to make it louder, or to HI
for the highest volume.
PLAYING A GAME
Follow these basic steps to select and play a game on the Quick Touch. For
complete information about each game, see "Game Descriptions", below.
1. Each time you turn it on, the Quick Touch automatically selects the
Shapes Quiz SYMBOL, the easiest challenge level (LEVEL 1), and single
player play (SINGLE PLAYER).
To select a different game, press ON/MODE until the arrow appears
next to the symbol of the game you want to play (see "Game
Descriptions", below).
To select LEVEL 2 for faster play and more challenging problems,
press <-...LEVEL (The big blue corner button). The challenge level
arrow moves to LEVEL 2 on the display. Press it again to return to
LEVEL 1.
To set the game for more than 1 player, press PLAYER...-> (the big
red corner button). The player arrow moves to MULTI-PLAYER. Press
it again to return to SINGLE PLAYER.
2. To start the game, press either the big yellow or green corner button
(<-...START...->). A melody plays, then the first problem of the
selected game appears on the display.
3. Depending on the number of players, you must press one or more buttons
to enter an answer, then the Quick Touch awards or subtracts points
(see "Scoring", below) and replies to your answer.
NOTE: Depending on the game you are playing (see "Game Descriptions",
below), you must press the buttons on the Quick Touch within
about 4 seconds (LEVEL 1) or 2 seconds (LEVEL 2) to answer the
problem. If you do not enter an answer in time, the Quick Touch
makes a "sad" sound, says "Wrong, try again," then it repeats
the same problem.
Multi-player - The Quick Touch has a different color "half-moon"
shaped button on each of its corners (red, blue, green, and
yellow). Assign each player one of these buttons to press when
they answer a problem.
When more than one person is playing, play continues until one player
correctly answers eight problems. Each time a player answers correctly,
the Quick Touch makes a "boi-oing" sound. If a player gives the wrong
answer, or if no player presses their button, the Quick Touch makes a
"sad" sound.
4. After the last problem of the game, the Quick Touch gives you
encouragement, such as "Well done, try again" or "Great win," then it
plays a short melody and the winning score flashes on the display.
To start the same game again, press a <-...START...-> button.
To select a different game, press ON/MODE until the game arrow appears next
to the game you want to play.
SCORING
A bar matching the color of each player's corner button (red, blue, yellow,
or green) appears on the display every time you turn on the game. For
each correct answer, the Quick Touch places a dash (like this - ) inside
that player's bar. One dash equals one point, and 8 points is the maximum
score each player can get.
The Quick Touch awards or takes away points differently depending on the
number of players in the game.
Single Player - When you are playing by yourself, the Quick Touch awards
you 1 point for each correct answer. (It does not take away
points for wrong answers.)
NOTE: Your score appears in the red bar on the display during
SINGLE PLAY.
Multiplayer - - When more than one player is playing, the Quick Touch
awards a player 1 point for each correct answer, and
subtracts 1 point for every wrong answer.
NOTE: If a player has 0 points and answers a problem incorrectly,
the player's score remains at 0.
PLAYING MUSIC
To play music on the Quick Touch, simply turn it on, then press the shape
buttons. Each button plays the sound of a different musical note (12 in
all). A label under the button shows you the nickname of the note on the
scale it plays (DO, RE, ME, etc.).
NOTES: You cannot play music during a game, but the Quick Touch
makes musical sounds each time you press a button.
To play music after a game ends, you must first press ON/
MODE.
