We do not expect you to have any problems with your TRC-517, but if you
do, the following suggestions might help. If you still have problems,
take the walkie talkie to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
Problem Solution
No power. Replace the battery.
Make sure the power switch is set to VOX
(voice activated), or PTT (push to talk).
Message cannot be Make sure that the PUSH TO TALK button is

Make sure the VOX/PTT/OFF switch is set to
VOX or PTT.
Reception is poor. Certain channels will work better than others
in some areas. If you are in an area of high
interference, switch channels to find one

structures, and other obstacles can affect
transmission. Radios are "line of-sight,"
which means you usually cannot hear
transmissions that are beyond the horizon.

terrain.
