Using The Radio
To hear everything happening on a channel, including weak transmissions,
hold down MON (monitor). Release MON to turn auto-squelch back on.
To talk, hold down PTT (push to talk). Speak into the microphone. When
you finish speaking, release PTT.
You can cause a paging tone to sound on other radios set to the same
channel and quiet code. To send a page, hold down CALL.
Rotate VOLUME/OFF/ON to turn the transceiver on and off and adjust the
volume. Warbling tones sound when you turn the radio on.
Charge Ni-Cd batteries with the DC 7.5 V input jack.
Connect an optional microphone/speaker with a 3/32-inch mini plug and a
1/8-inch plug to the MIC/EAR jacks (or an earphone with a 1/8-inch plug
to the EAR jack.
Using The Quiet Feature
The quiet feature eliminates interference from other radios which are not
tuned to the same channel and quiet code as your radio. When you set a
quiet code and turn on this feature, you can only communicate with users
who have a radio set to the same channel and code as your radio. Follow
these steps to set a quiet code.
1. Be sure the radio is off and remove all the batteries from the battery
compartment.
Set the DIP switches inside the battery compartment separately to
select the desired frequency/tone. The up position is ON, and the
down position is OFF.

Using The Belt Clip
Slide the belt clip onto the tab at the back of the radio until it clicks.
Then slide the clip over your belt. To remove the clip, pull up on the
middle tab of the clip and slide down.
Using The Hand Strap
Slide the hand strap's small loop under the bar next to VOLUME/UP. You
might need to use a small screw driver or a straightened paper clip to do
this. Then pull the large loop through the small loop.
