RadioShack welcomes you to the next generation of personal communication,
the Family Radio Service (FRS).  FRS is a new license-free, two-way, short
range voice radio service that lets families and groups keep in touch with
each other on specific reserved channels.

Your RadioShack Two-Way Family Radio is a lightweight, palm-sized radio
that you can carry almost anywhere.  Use it at shopping malls, amusement
parks, or sports events to contact family and friends, or in a
neighborhood watch for vital communications.

Your radio has 14 channels and  38 different quiet codes.  If someone else
is using the channel you selected and you do not want to hear that person,
select another channel or use the quiet feature (see "Using the Quiet
Feature" in Faxback Doc. # 50785). You can talk with other FRS radio users
whose radios are tuned to the same channel and quiet code as yours.

Your radio has auto-squelch, which means you will not hear anything on a
channel unless someone is transmitting nearby on the same channel. You can
turn off auto-squelch to hear weaker, distant transmissions (See Faxback
Doc. # 50785).

Also, the radio has a channel and quiet code lock pin in the battery
compartment.  Removing the pin locks the channel and quiet code settings
to avoid accidentally changing the settings.

The supplied hand strap and belt clip let you carry your radio almost
anywhere.

We recommend you record your radio's serial number here.  The number is on
the radio's back panel.
