MTX-101 Marine Transceiver
(190-1002) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 39646
If your transceiver does not operate properly, check the following items:
Is the power cord properly connected to the battery and the
transceiver?
Is the antenna cable properly connected to the antenna and the
transceiver?
Is the power cord or antenna cable frayed or broken?
Is the microphone cable securely connected to the transceiver?
Does the microphone button operate normally?
Are the VOLUME control, SQUELCH control, [1W/25W] button, and tuning
knob set properly?
Is the fuse blown? If it is, replace it with a 6-amp fuse.
Caution:
To prevent damaging the transceiver, do not use a replacement use with
a higher amperage.
If you still have a problem, bring the transceiver to your local
Radio Shack store so that our personnel can help you and arrange for
service, if needed.
Note:
Repair and/or adjustment of this transceiver must be performed by a
technician with a general-class commercial license issued by the FCC.
NOISE SUPPRESSION
Your transceiver has built-in noise-suppression circuits to guard against
interference caused by engine ignitions or other sources. If you follow
the suggested location and installation guidelines, you should not have
a noise problem.
However, if you still hear excess noise, your local Radio Shack store
sells additional noise-suppression components. Follow the instructions
that come with the components.
