Your MTX-120 is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The
following suggestions will help you care for the unit so that you can enjoy
it for years.
Use and store the product only in normal temperature environments. High
temperatures can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batter-
ies, and distort or melt plastic parts.
Handle the product gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit
boards and cases and can cause the product to work improperly.
Keep the product away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature
wear of parts.
Wipe the product with a dampened cloth occasionally to keep it looking
new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong deter-
gents to clean the product.
Modifying or tampering with the products internal components can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate the product's warranty. If your product
is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store.
Our personnel can assist you and arrange for service if needed.
If You Have Problems
If your radio does not operate properly, check the following items first.
If you still have a problem, take radio to your local Radio Shack for
assistance.
NOTES: Repair and/or adjustment of this radio must be performed by a tech-
nician with an FCC general-class commercial license.
Check the battery pack condition.
If you are using an external antenna, check the antenna cable and
its connections at both ends.
Check the connections of external microphone and external speaker.
Check the settings of the VOLUME control, SQUELCH control, 1W/5W
switch, OUT/CH16 switch, and the CHANNEL switch.
