PRS-101 10-Channel GMRS Transceiver
(190-0901) Features Faxback Doc. # 31384

The Radio Shack PRS-101 10-Channel GMRS Transceiver is a portable, easy-
to-use, two-way radio that you can carry almost anywhere. It is
constructed to commercial-grade standards to give you clear, reliable
communication.

The transceiver has 10 channel - one emergency channel, seven interstitial
channels, and two channels you can program to any of the seven main GMRS
(General Mobile Radio Service) frequencies.

NOTE: You must have a valid GMRS license, issued by the FCC, to operate
your transceiver. This license authorizes you to operate on one or
two of the seven main GMRS frequencies. It also authorizes you to
operate on the emergency channel and all seven interstitial
channels. Operating your transceiver without a license, or
operating on a main frequency for which you are not licensed,
       carries heavy penalties.

The PRS-101 operates in the General Mobile Radio Service, a personal radio
service available for personal communications with family members or other
licensees. You can use the PRS-101 for recreational communications while
you hike, ski, or fish. You can even use the PRS-101 to coordinate your
personal or business activities with other family members. When you get a
license to operate the radio, you can then let other members of your family
living in the same household operate the radio.

Your transceiver has following features:

PLL (Phase-Locked Loop) Tuning - generates 10 precise channel frequencies
                                  for clear, stable communications.

Digital Channel-Number Display - makes it easy to see which channel is
                                  selected.

Vinyl Case - helps protect the transceiver from bumps
                                  and scrapes.

Built-in Modulation Limiter - automatically adjusts for a wide variety
Circuit of voice levels to ensure a clear
                                  transmission.

                                  assigned GMRS emergency channel.

the proper transmitting power for long or

Transmit and Receive Indicators - indicate whether you are transmitting or
                                  receiving a signal.

Battery Low Indicator - flashes when the transceiver is turned on
and the battery pack needs to be
                                  recharged.

Removable, Rechargeable Battery - lets you use one battery pack while you
Pack change another pack (additional packs are
                                  available separately).

Supplied Battery Charger - lets you recharge the transceiver's
                                  nickel-cadmium battery pack.
