INSERTING A CD
To insert a Compact Disc (CD) into the CD drive, press the CD eject button.
After the tray pops open, gently pull the tray out until it is fully
extended. Remove a CD from its protective case, holding the disc by its
center hole and outer edge to avoid touching the bottom surface. Place the
CD, printed side up, into the round area of the tray. Gently press down on
the CD until it snaps into the center guide of the tray. Then, push the
tray back into the drive until it snaps into place.
When you first insert a CD, your computer takes a few moments to read it.
If you try to use the CD before the computer is ready, you may see an error
message (for example, NO DISC may appear on the screen), but your CD should
be available for use after the initial wait.
AUDIO CDs
To play an audio CD, insert the CD into the CD drive and it should begin
playing automatically.
You can use the function key combination <FN> + <F9> to play or pause an
audio CD, <FN>+<F10> to stop playing a CD, <FN>+<F11> to play a previous
track, and <FN>+<F12> to play the next track.
MANUALLY EJECTING A CD
If you need to eject a CD when the power is off, or if the door will not
open when the CD eject button is pressed, follow the instructions below to
manually eject the CD.
1. Make sure the power is off and any external power sources are
disconnected.
2. Directly to the right of the CD eject button is the Manual Eject Hole.
Insert a metal rod (approximately 1/16 inch in diameter and at least
3/8 inch in length) into the Manual Eject Hole and push firmly. You
may use a straightened paper clip.
3. After the CD tray pops open, gently pull it out from the drive until it
is fully extended, then remove the CD.
If the tray does not open, contact your local Compaq authorized dealer,
reseller or service provider.
