Troubleshooting Q&A Faxback Doc. # 50770
Q. How do I disable the sleep function?
A. Restart the unit, when cursor appears in the top right corner of the
screen, press the F10 key continuously until you enter the setup
screen. On the 2240, and 4500 series go to the "power" section on the
top of the screen. Default settings will say customized, use the minus
key to change that to disabled. Go to exit and exit saving changes.
On the 4800 series it will say "system inactivity timeout" and "power
savings" on the main screen, change each of these to disabled. The
unit will not longer go to sleep automatically.
Q. How do I restore a unit to its original "out of the box" condition?
A. Use the quickrestore CD that is included with each unit. Simply insert
the quickrestore into the CD-ROM, restart the unit and follow the
directions. It will take about 30 to 40 minutes to restore the unit.
You will need a windows OEM number to complete restoration, this number
is included with each unit.
Q. What if I don't get any sound out of my speakers?
A. First check to make sure the speakers are plugged into the unit and
connected to one another. If that doesn't solve the problem then
double click on the speaker icon on the lower right corner of the
screen. Make sure there is not a check mark in the first box labeled
volume, a check in this box will mute all sound. All other boxes
should have checks to enable those components. If you still have a
problem you may want to try another set of speakers.
Q. Software will not load.
A. Check to see if Full Armor is installed, Full Armor must be disabled to
install new software. Double click on the Full Armor icon located in
the lower right corner of the screen, enter your password and then
disable Full Armor. Be sure to enable Full Armor after installing new
software.
Q. Monitor goes blank even though the sleep function has been disabled.
A. Choose START>SETTINGS>CONTROL PANEL, go into the setting for the
monitor and make sure all checks have been removed from the power
management section under the screen saver tab. Also make sure "blank
screen" is not selected for your screen saver.
Q. How do I load a demo CD?
A. First, disable the sleep function (see above). Then, check to see if
power management has been removed from the monitor settings (see
above). Be sure there is not a screen saver password enabled. Insert
the demo CD into the CD ROM, double click on the "my computer" icon on
the desktop, double click on the CD ROM drive and then choose "setup",
OK everything and the demo will install. After the demo finishes
installing it will ask if you want to install Full Armor, choose yes
and have at least a six-character password ready. Remove the CD and
reboot the unit to complete installation. You may need to double click
the demo icon located on the desktop and choose the model number of the
unit to begin the demo.
Q. How do install Full Armor without loading the entire demo?
A. Once again make sure the unit is setup the way you want it before
installing Full Armor. Insert the demo CD into the CD ROM drive and
double click on "my computer". Choose the CD ROM drive, instead of
choosing the setup icon choose the PDEMO folder, then you will see the
Full Armor folder open that and choose setup there. Full Armor will
load and you will need at least a six-character password. Remove the
demo CD and reboot the computer to complete installation.
Q. Mouse is not working properly.
A. Remove the screw from the bottom of the mouse and open the mouse.
Adjust the sensors located on each side of the wheels so that they line
up with each other. If this does not correct the problem you will need
a new mouse.
Q. The CD-ROM does not work.
A. Restart the computer and go into system setup by hitting F10 as the
computer boots. Go to the exit tab and choose load setup defaults,
then exit saving changes. If this does not correct the problem go into
