The Compaq 1232 comes with the ability to send and receive faxes.

IMPORTANT: By default, COM2 is the port used by your modem for telephone
communications.

RingCentral Fax is a faxing software program that is loaded on your
computer.  The first time you double click on RingCentral Fax, the program
will prompt you through a setup process.  The setup process is simple, and
takes approximately 3 to 5 minutes to complete.  Follow the steps below to
set up RingCentral Fax:

1.  Double-click on the RingCentral Fax icon located on your desktop.

2.  A dialog box labeled "RINGCENTRAL FAX SETUP WIZARD" will appear.  Click
    on NEXT.

3.  A dialog box labeled "RINGCENTRAL FAX FAX MODEM DETECTION" will appear.
    It should display the following modem type:

    COMPAQ PRESARIO 56K-DF
    COM2    FAX DATA

4.  Click on OK.  A dialog box labeled "RINGCENTRAL FAX SETUP WIZARD" will
    appear.  Click on NEXT.

5.  A dialog box requesting the following information will appear:

    FIRST NAME:_____________________LAST NAME:___________________
    COMPANY:_____________________________________________________
    HOME OR COMPANY ADDRESS:_____________________________________
    _____________________________________________________________
    CITY:________________________________________________________
    STATE::____________________ZIP CODE:_________________________

    Once the information is entered, click on NEXT.

6.  A dialog box requesting the following information will appear:

    COUNTRY:_____________________________________________________
    AREA CODE:___________________________________________________
    NUMBER TO ACCESS AN OUTSIDE LINE ____________________________
    THIS LOCATION HAS CALL WAITING______TO DISABLE_______________
    DOES YOUR PHONE USE TONE DIALING_________PULSE DIALING_______

    Once the information is entered, click on NEXT.

7.  A dialog box requesting the following information will appear:

    COUNTRY CODE:________________________________________________
    HOME PHONE NUMBER:___________________________________________
    BUSINESS PHONE NUMBER:_______________________________________
    FAX NUMBER:__________________________________________________

    Once the information is entered, click on NEXT.

7.  A dialog box requesting the following information will appear:

    IF YOU USE E-MAIL, ENTER YOUR STANDARD INTERNET E-MAIL ADDRESS:
    (E.G. krustyclown@krustylu.com)
    _____________________________________________________________

    Enter the information and click on NEXT, or don't enter the
    information, but still click on NEXT.

8.  A dialog box displaying the information that you have given the setup
    program will display.  Verify the information, if it is correct, click
    on NEXT.  If it is not correct, click on BACK.

9.  A dialog box will appear, with the following options:

    YOU CAN SPECIFY WHEN YOUR COMPUTER WILL ANSWER THE PHONE.

    IF THER ARE NEW MESSAGES,
    ANSWER AFTER: ____ RINGS.    (The default setting is 2)

    IF THERE ARE NO NEW MESSAGES,
    ANSWER AFTER: ____ RINGS.    (The default setting is 2)

    IF AUTOMATIC ANSWER IS TURNED OFF,
    _X_ DO NOT ANSWER
    ___ ANSWER AFTER _____ RINGS

    When these settings match your personal preferences, click on NEXT.

10. A dialog box with the following option will appear:

    YOU CAN START RINGCENTRAL FAX EACH TIME WINDOWS IS STARTED.

    WOULD YOU LIKE TO ADD RINGCENTRAL TO STARTUP FOLDER?

    ____ YES     __X__ NO

    When these settings match your personal preferences, click on NEXT.

11. A dialog box with the following information will appear:

    CONGRADULATIONS!
    YOU HAVE COMPLETED THE SETUP OF RINGCENTRAL FAX.  YOUR MAILBOX NAME IS
    XXXXXXXXXXX

    IF YOU WANT TO CHANGE ANY SETTING LATER, SELECT "OPTIONS" FROM THE RING
    CENTRAL FAX MENU.

    Click on FINISH.

You are now ready to run RINGCENTRAL FAX.
