Compaq Presario 1220 Notebook
(250-0325) Custom And Typical Restore Faxback Doc. # 46968
If a driver is accidentally deleted, the computer should be able to
automatically redetect it correctly. However, if for some reason it
cannot, you can try reinstalling individual drivers using the Quick Restore
CD.
With the Windows 95 DeskTop on the Screen, insert the Quick Restore CD. It
should autostart with the Quick Restore Main Menu. If not, you can click
on START, then click on RUN, and type:
D:\AUTOINST.EXE
in the OPEN field, then click on OK.
From the Quick Restore Main Menu, you can select either FULL RESTORE,
TYPICAL RESTORE, or CUSTOM RESTORE.
FULL RESTORE will reform and reinstall all of the software that came
preinstalled on the Presario. This procedure is covered in the
"Reinstalling All Software" document.
TYPICAL RESTORE will reinstall your computer's drivers and applications
that were originally preinstalled, but does not reformat the hard drive or
destroy any data. However, you will lose any customerized settings you
have created.
CUSTOM RESTORE allows the user to select and install a single driver on the
Presario Computer. It does not reformat the hard drive or destroy any data
files, however, you may lose any customized settings you have created.
