IBM Aptiva E40/E24
(250-0467/8) Sound Card Faxback Doc. # 41551

The "soundcard" is actually a satelite board connected to the main logic
board via a ribbon cable. I tested this in MS-DOS mode with MS-DOS games,
and it worked as either a SoundBlaster, Soundblaster Pro or SoundBlaster
16, with the following settings:

IRQ:5 DMA:1 I/O:220

In Windows, it uses the following drivers:

     CRYSTAL PNP AUDIO SYSTEM CODEC
CRYSTAL PNP AUDIO SYSTEM CONTROL REGISTERS
     CRYSTAL PNP AUDIO SYSTEM JOYSTICK
CRYSTAL PNP AUDIO SYSTEM MPU-401 COMPATIBLE

Due to the location of this satelite board, the top PCI card slot is
blocked by cable running to the main logic board.

The port order, from left to right, is as follows:

MIC, AUX IN, SPKR, 15 PIN JOYSTICK/MIDI

According to the documentation, the sound card is compatible to the
following:

Sound Blaster, Media Vision, Aztech, and other Sound Blaster-Compatible
16-bit sound cards

MPU-401 (UART MODE) MIDI

General MIDI/GS

Roland MT-32

Windows 3.1, Windows 95

ADLIB

The WaveTable features include:

8-Mbit PCM sound samples

Yamaha OPL4 chip

24 voices

187 sounds consisting of 128 intrument sounds and 59 percussive voices
