Home Director Voice Command Reference Guide

You can voice navigate the menus with the navigation commands, by simply
saying the name of the item you wish to invoke, "say what you see".
However, the on-line help file can not be voice navigated.

The other items that you see on the screen (modules, routines, scroll bars,
etc.) can be controlled through voice command phrases.

Don't forget, when you start Home Director, the microphone will be in the
sleep state (yellow microphone icon). Say, Wake Up to turn on the micro-
phone (green microphone icon) and start using your voice to navigate Home
Director.

Review the following sections to familiarize yourself with the commands
phrases. When opening Home Director, the Speech Bar appears in the same
state, either docked or floating, as when you last closed Home Director.

Description of Voice Command Phrases

The voice commands that perform an action in the Home Director software are
simple multi-word phrases. The required phrases normally call out an
"object" that you want to control, such as a lamp, and an "action" that you
want the object to perform.

  Example:  object-->lamp ON-->action

Any word or words in capital letters are the actual command, like ON in the
above example, and must be spoken.

We tried to make the voice commands as natural as we could so we allow, and
in some cases require, additional words to be added to the simple "object
and action" type of command. These extra words make the command "fit" your
speech patterns. While our simple command to turn a lamp on shown above is
easy to say, most of us would probably say: TURN THE lamp ON Or we might
say: TURN ON THE lamp.

Either of these phrases are allowed and will do the same thing, turn on the
lamp.

Objects are normally physical modules (lamp, appliance, etc.) that you have
installed around your house, which show up as "on-screen" modules, or rou-
tines that you have created using these modules. You can refer to these
objects by the name you have given them (ie., Kitchen Fan, Porch Light,
Coming Home) or by the Housecode/Unitcode address (ie., A4, Golf 5, K15)
assigned to the module.

If you use a percentage in your command, specify the number within the
range of 0-100.

If you use a time specifier, it must be in the form of hh:mm am/pm (ie.,
11:30 am or 2:45 pm).

If you use a date specifier, the date specifier must be in the form of
month day (i.e., August 20).
