Error Codes and Messages
When you see error codes and messages on your screen, find the error code
or message in the following table, then do the applicable corrective action
or actions.
Error Codes Error Messages Corrective Actions
10 Memory Error at xxxx:xxxx:xxxx 1. Check if the SIMMS are
properly installed, then
reboot the system.
2. If you still receive the
error message after doing
option 1, the SIMMS may be
defective. Change the SIMMs.
3. If the error message
still appears after doing
options 1 and 2, call your
place of purchase for
assistance.
11 64KB System Management Memory 1. Load the Setup default
Bad settings in the Setup
Utility.

12 System Management Memory Not 1. Load the Setup default

30 Keyboard Interface Error 1. Plug the keyboard in

31 Pointing Device Interface 1. Make sure that the mouse

Diskette Drive A parameter
setting is correct.
2. Check the diskette drive
signal cable if properly
connected to the drive and to
the system board.
3. Check the drive power
cables if properly plugged
in.
4. If the error persists
after doing steps 1 to 3,
replace diskette drive A. It
may be defective.
43 Diskette Drive B Error 1. Make sure that the
Diskette Drive A parameter
setting is correct.
2. Check the diskette drive
signal cable if properly
connected to the drive and to
the system board.
3. Check the drive power
cables if properly plugged
in.
4. If the error persists
after doing steps 1 to 3,
replace diskette drive B. It
may be defective.
45 CPU Clock Mismatch 1. Load the Setup default
settings in the Setup
Utility.
2. If the error still
appears after loading the
Setup defaults, check the
settings of jumpers JP8,
JP15, and JP17 if correct.
47 Diskette Drive(s) Disabled 1. Enter the Setup Utility.
Select Advanced Options then
Security Options.
2. Make sure that the
Diskette Drive parameter is
set to Normal.
48 Diskette Write Protected 1. Enter the Setup Utility.
Select Advanced Options then
Security Options.
2. Make sure that the
Diskette Drive parameter is
set to Normal.
50 IDE Drive 0 Error 1. Check the hard disk
signal cable if properly
connected to the drive and to
the system board.
2. Check the drive power
cables if properly connected.
3. Enter Setup and make sure
that IDE 1st Channel Master
parameter is set to Auto.
4. If the error still
appears after performing the
above steps, replace the hard
disk drive. It may be
defective.
51 IDE Drive 1 Error 1. Check the hard disk
signal cable if properly
connected to the drive and to
the system board.
2. Check the drive power
cables if properly connected.
3. Enter Setup and make sure
that IDE 1st Channel Master
parameter is set to Auto.
4. If the error still
appears after performing the
above steps, replace the hard

52 IDE Drive 2 Error 1. Check the hard disk

parameters in Setup, then
reboot the system.

71 CMOS Battery Bad 1. Replace the system
battery.

72 CMOS Checksum Error Load the Setup default

80 PCI Device Error 1. Remove all the PCI cards
installed in the system.
2. Power on the system to
check if it works without
the PCI cards.
3. If the system works, add
back the PCI cards one by one
to determine which card caused
the error.
4. When you have determined
the defective PCI card,
replace the card. Call the

card.

102 I/O Parity Error 1. Load the Setup defaults
and reboot the system.

103 Press <Esc> to turn off NMI 1. Press Esc to turn off NMI
or other key to reboot and proceed to boot the
system.
2. Press any other key to
reboot the system.
3. If you encounter any
other parity error after
booting, call your place of
purchase.
104 Insert system diskette and 1. Insert a system diskette
press <Enter> to reboot into drive A and press Enter
to reboot the system.
2. If the system works when
you boot from drive A, your
hard disk may have a problem.
3. Make sure that your hard
disk drive is properly
installed. Check all cable
connections.
