IBM Aptiva S-Series
BIOS ROM Upgrade Faxback Doc. # 39613

If the customer is experiencing frequent lock-ups and errors on any
S-Series IBM Aptiva, recommend that they obtain the BIOS ROM upgrade
program from the IBM website. In our testing, running this BIOS ROM flash
upgrade remedies a myriad of problems.

This flash upgrade can be obtained at:

http://www4.pc.ibm.com/aptips/sprtdsks.html

The file name is:

SFLASH.EXE

IBM's official explanation of this upgrade is as follows:

Executing this file will run a program which creates a bootable floppy.
Booting the computer off of the bootable floppy will flash the BIOS,
updating it to the most current level. This can solve conflicts with
hardware and software that require information not in the original BIOS in
order to interact with the system. This BIOS flash is for use with Aptiva
S-Series 2159 models. This updates the BIOS level to: BSTUS4G.
