Installing the entire software preload on the Aptiva Windows 95 System

First, you may need to create the recovery diskette. To do this click on
Start. Then in order, click on Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and
Recovery Diskette. You will be prompted to insert a diskette. After
inserting the diskette, press <ENTER>. The recovery diskette will be
created. You will see a message that the operation has completed.

The following is the procedure for installing the entire software load from
the Product Recovery CD:

Boot with the Windows 95 recovery diskette.
This will give message of "Do you wish to update the Aptiva software on
your hard disk (Y/N) ? Type "Y". Next, a disclaimer will appear and ask
if you accept. Type "Y". You will then see the warning for the format.
If you type "Y", the customer will LOSE ALL DATA ! Be certain the
customer has backed up any programs or data they need to keep before you
continue, and that the customer knows they will need to reload their third
party applications.

**NOTE** An answer of "N" each time will take you to an A:\> prompt.

After a Quick Format, all of the Windows 95 system directories will be
created. Then the files will be inflated. When the inflating is done, you
will prompted to reboot without the disk. This will launch the WIN95 setup
program. During this process you will be prompted to enter name & company,
to accept the license agreement and insert the Certificate of Authenticity
number (which is located on the intro. manual). At this point the WIN95
setup will analyze the hardware installed on the system. A progress bar
will be displayed. After Step #11 is complete, you will be prompted to
restart. Click "OK". During this phase, WIN95 will update the
configuration files, run the Aptiva setup, Autoplay, MS Exchange, Setup
Printer, Time Zone, and the IBM Mwave. At this point, the system will
reboot again into the WIN95 Welcome.
