If you need to defeat or bypass the Rapid Resume feature of the Aptiva, 
follow these steps:

When the computer is rebooted, hold down both the left and right mouse 
button.  This will allow you to regain control of the computer.  Enter
setup, select Rapid Resume, and toggle the switch to enable or disable the
feature.  Selecting the enable will keep the Rapid Resume on, selecting
disable will turn it off.
