SCR-60 (140-0706) Operation Faxback Doc. # 9969

1. Set TAPE/RADIO to RADIO.

2. Set AM/FM STEREO/FM to the desired band. For FM stereo reception,
set AM/FM STEREO/FM to FM STEREO.

3. Adjust TUNING to the desired station.

Notes: To fine tune FM stereo stations, adjust TUNING until the
            FM STEREO indicator lights.

To improve reception on a weak FM stereo station, set AM/FM
STEREO/FM to FM. The FM STEREO light goes out. The output
is mono, but the sound might improve.

The SCR-50's radio has two antennas. The AM antenna is
built-in. Rotate the SCR-50 for the best AM reception. For
the best FM reception, fully extend the telescoping antenna
and adjust it until you hear the best reception.

4. Set VOLUME to a comfortable listening level.

5. To turn off the radio, set TAPE/RADIO to TAPE.

USING HEADPHONES

To listen to your SCR-50 in privacy, plug a pair of optional stereo
headphones with a 1/8-inch plug into the PHONES jack. The built-in
speaker is automatically disconnected. Your local Radio Shack store sells
a complete line of headphones.

Listening Safely

To protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when using the
headphones.

Set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening.
After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level.

Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended high volume
listening can lead to permanent hearing loss.

Once you set the volume, do not increase it. Over time, your ears
adapt to the volume level, so a volume level that does not cause
discomfort might still damage your hearing.

Traffic Safety

Do not wear the headphones while operating a motor vehicle or riding a
bicycle. This can cause a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas.

Even though some headphones are designed to let you hear some outside
sounds when you listen at normal volume levels, they still present a
traffic hazard.
