ERASE-PROTECTION TABS

Most cassette tapes have two erase-protection tabs - one for each side of
the tape.  When a tab is in place, you can record on that side.  When the
tab is not in place, you cannot record on that side.

To protect your recordings from being accidentally recorded over, use a
screwdriver or similar object to carefully break off the erase-protection
tabs.

If you later decide to record on the tape, you can place a piece of strong
tape over the slots.

Cautions:  When you cover the holes, cover only the position that the
           plastic tab originally protected.

           Removing the erase-protection tabs does not prevent a bulk
           eraser from erasing the tape.

ERASING A CASSETTE TAPE

If you no longer want a recording, you can record over it or erase it.

To record over a cassette tape, record as usual.  The tape recorder
records over the previous recording.

You can quickly erase both sides of a cassette tape using a bulk tape
eraser, available at your local Radio Shack store.
