DISC HANDLING

Even though a compact disc is more durable than a phonograph record, it
should be handled with care.  Always hold the disc by the edges.  In
extreme cases, fingerprints and scratches on the disc surface can
prevent the laser beam from correctly reading the digital information.
Always keep the disc in its protective case or sleeve when it is not in
use.

LOADING AND PLAYING A DISC

1.  Turn the VOLUME MAX-MIN control to MIN.

2.  Plug a pair of stereo headphones with a 1/8 inch plug into the
    headphone jack.

3.  Set the POWER ON/OFF switch to ON.

4.  Slide the LOCK/OPEN latch to OPEN, and lift the disc compartment
    cover.

5.  Place the disc, label side up, over the disc compartment's center hub.
    Be sure the disc lies flat in the compartment.

6.  Close the disc compartment cover and slide the LOCK/OPEN switch to
    LOCK.

    The display shows the number of tracks on the disc and their total
    playing time.  Then, the display shows 0.

7.  Press [PLAY/PAUSE].  Track 1 begins to play.  The display shows the
    track number and the elapsed playing time of that track.

8.  Adjust the VOLUME MAX-MIN control to a comfortable listening level.

    Press [TIME REMAIN] to see the remaining number of tracks and the
    playing time left on the disc.  Press [TIME REMAIN] again to return to
    the current track information.

When the last track has finished playing, the disc automatically stops and
the display shows 0.

Note:  The CD-3200 is not designed to be played while in motion.  If you
       try to use it while jogging, the up-and down motion can interrupt
       the music.  This is not a malfunction.

CONNECTING YOUR CD-3200 TO OTHER AUDIO EQUIPMENT

You can connect the CD-3200 to your home audio system to obtain the
benefit of your system's amplifier and full-size speakers.

Connect the supplied Y-cable from the CD player's LINE OUT jack to a jack
on your receiver/amplifier labeled CD-in, aux-in, or TV-in.  If the jack
on your equipment does not match the plug on the cable, check with your
local Radio Shack store for a suitable adapter.

Note:  The CD-3200's VOLUME MAX-MIN control has no effect on the LINE OUT
       signal.

Your might want to use amplified speakers.  Your local Radio Shack store
has a selection of these.

Note:  You might like to listen to the CD-3200 played through your car's
       stereo.  If so, you can use the Realistic CD Cassette Adapter 
       (Catalog # 120-1951).

Caution:  To avoid speaker damage, set the volume control of your
          receiver/amplifier to a minimum level before playing a disc.
          After the CD-3200 begins play, raise the volume slowly.

AUTOMATIC SEARCH MUSIC SYSTEM (ASMS)

You can use ASMS before beginning play or during play to select any track
you want to play first.

Using ASMS Before Beginning Play

1.  In the stop mode, press ASMS [>>|] or [|<<] to select the track you
    want to play first.  The track number is displayed.

2.  Press [PLAY/PAUSE ].  The CD-3200 begins play and continues to the end
    of the disc.

Using ASMS During Play.

To return to the beginning of the current track, press ASMS [|<<].  The
track number flashes as the CD-3200 searches for the beginning of the
track.  Then, play resumes.

To move to the beginning of the next track, press ASMS [>>|].  The track
number flashes as the CD-3200 searches for the beginning of the track.
Then, play resumes.

To move to other tracks, press ASMS [|<<] or [>>|] as required.


AUDIBLE SEARCH

Use this features during play to rapidly search forward or backward.
During audible search, the volume is reduced.

To search forward, press and hold [>>].

To search backward, press and hold [<<].

Release the button to resume normal play.


RANDOM-TRACK PROGRAMMING

With this feature, you can program up to 16 tracks on a disc to play in
any order you choose.  You can program the same track to play more than
once.

To Program a Random-Track Sequence

1.  Press [STOP/CLEAR].

2.  Press [MEM].  MEMORY flashes on the digital display, and P-01 (Memory
    Position 01) appears.

3.  Press either ASMS[>>|] or ASMS [|<<] to display the first track you
    want to program.  The selected track number appears.

4.  Press [MEM].  The selected track is stored into the first memory
    position.  The track number disappears, and the next memory position
    number appears on the display.

5.  Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each track you want to program, up to the
    maximum of 16.  When you program the 16th selection, the display
    returns to P-01 and the first track number you programmed.

    If you program a 17th selection, the new track number replaces your
    first programmed track in memory position P-01.

    To check the programmed sequence of tracks, press [MEM].  Your first
    programmed track is displayed.  Each time you press [MEM], the next
    track in the sequence is displayed.

6.  Press [PLAY/PAUSE].  The CD-3200 plays the track in the sequence you
    programmed them.

During play of a programmed sequence, you can use the ASMS feature move
forward or backward in the programmed sequence.

Adding or Changing the Programmed Sequence

1.  Press [MEM] until the memory position you want to change appears
    on the display.

    If you want to add to the end of the programmed sequence, press [MEM]
    until only the memory position number appears on the display.

2.  Follow steps 3 and 4 in "To program a Random-Track Sequence" to change
    or add a track number at the displayed memory position.

Notes:

  Turning off the unit erases all programming.

  To erase a track from the programmed sequence, begin in the stop mode.
  Press [MEM] to display the track number you want to erase.  Then, press
  [STOP/CLEAR].  When you erase a track, the next programmed track number
  moves into the cleared memory position.

  Remaining time is not shown during play of a programmed sequence.  If
  you press [TIME REM] in this mode, the display shows - - ----.

REPEAT PLAY

You can set the CD-3200 to repeat:

  A single track

  All the tracks in track number order.

  A random-track programmed sequence.

Repeating a Single track

1.  Before beginning play or at any time during regular play, press ASMS
    [>>|] or [|<<] to select the desired track.

2.  Press [REPEAT].  The display shows REPEAT 1.

Press [STOP/CLEAR] to stop repeating a single track.

To cancel the repeat mode:

1.  Press [REPEAT] to turn off the REPEAT display.

2.  Turn off the player.

Repeating All Tracks or a Programmed Sequence

Before or during regular or programmed play, press [REPEAT] twice.  The
display shows REPEAT ALL.  When the player reaches the end of the disc
or the end of a programmed sequence, it returns to the first track and
replays all the tracks in the same order.

To cancel REPEAT ALL, press [REPEAT].  The REPEAT ALL indicator turns off.

Note:  Turning off the unit or opening the disc compartment door cancels
       the programmed sequence.

PAUSE/CUE

You can use either the pause or the cue function by pressing [PLAY/PAUSE].

Pause

1.  If you want to temporarily stop play, press [PLAY/PAUSE].

    PAUSE appears on the display and the display flashes.

2.  Press [PLAY/PAUSE] again to resume play from the point of the pause.
    The display stops flashing.

CUE

You can use [PLAY/PAUSE] to cue a track (prepare it for immediate play at
a later time).

1.  From the stop mode, press ASMS [|<<] or [>>|] to display the track you
    want to cue.

2.  When the selected track number appears, press [PLAY/PAUSE] twice.
    When the display flashes 0:00, the track is cued.

    When you are ready to play the cued track, press [PLAY/PAUSE].
