SELECTING AND PREPARING THE LOCATION

Be sure the mounting surface is at least 1/2-inch thick and sturdy enough
to support the speaker.  Be sure there is at least 2 3/4-inch clearance
behind the mounting surface and there are no wall studs or other objects
to block the back of the speaker.

Use the supplied template to mark the position for the mounting hole.
Then cut the hole.

CONNECTING THE SPEAKER WIRE

Caution:  While mounting the speaker, be sure you do not interfere with
          existing wiring.

A wide selection of speaker wire is available at your local Radio Shack
store.  We recommend you use wire that is color-coded or marked on one
side.  This helps you connect the wire correctly.

If you need less than 50 feet of wire to connect the speaker to your
receiver/amplifier, use 18-gauge speaker wire.

If you need more than 50 feet, use 16-gauge wire.  We recommend you keep
the wire length to a minimum.

Follow these steps to connect the speaker to the receiver/amplifier:

1.  Route the speaker wire from the receiver/amplifier to the speaker.
    Avoid routing the speaker wire near electrical wires.  Do not nail or
    staple the speaker wire.

2.  Prepare each end of the speaker wire by doing the following:

    The wire has two conductors.  Separate the conductors for a length of
    about 4 inches.

    Using a wire stripper, remove about 1/4 inch of insulation from the
    end of each conductor.

    Twist the ends of each conductor.

3.  Connect the wire to the terminals on the back of the speaker.  To do
    this, press one terminal's tab, insert a conductor, and release the
    tab.  Then, repeat with the other conductor.

4.  Connect the wire to the speaker terminals on the receiver/amplifier.

    Using the wire's color-coding or marking as a guide, connect the
    conductor that is connected to the speaker's (+) terminal to the
    receiver/amplifier's (+) terminal.

    Connect the (-) conductor to the receiver/amplifier's (-) terminal.
    Connecting speaker wires incorrectly can affect the quality of the
    bass sounds.

MOUNTING THE SPEAKER

Follow these steps to mount the speaker:

Note:  If you choose to paint the frame and grille, paint them and let
       them dry before you mount the speaker.  Be sure paint does not get
       into the speaker system.

1.  From the back of the speaker, insert one of the supplied screws
    through a mounting hole, and push the grille away from the speaker.

2   Turn the bracket's flat side toward the speaker's back.  Position the
    bracket so that its mounting holes line up with the speaker's mounting
    holes and it is centered horizontally and vertically.

3.  Use the four supplied screws to attach the mounting bracket to the
    speaker's frame.  From each pair of holes, select the four most
    appropriate for the mounting location you've selected.  Tighten the
    screws about halfway.

4.  Place the speaker in the mounting hole.  The mounting surface fits in
    the gap between the speaker frame and the mounting bracket.

5.  Position the speaker evenly in the mounting hole.  Then, use a
    screwdriver to tighten the screws.

6.  Place the four supplied putty strips in the groove where the grille
    fits; place one strip on each side.  These help reduce vibration by
    holding the grille in place.

7.  Snap the grille in place.

Note:   Do not use a vacuum cleaner to clean the speaker.  This might
        damage it.
