(140-0517A) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 56255
Your Optimus Portable Compact Disc Player is an example of superior design
and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for your
stereo so you can enjoy it for years.
Keep the stereo dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids
might contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits.
Use and store the stereo only in normal temperature environments.
Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage
batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts.
Keep the stereo away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear
of parts.
Handle the stereo gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage circuit
boards and cases and can cause the stereo to work improperly.
Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type.
Batteries can leak chemicals that damage your stereo's electronic parts.
Wipe the stereo with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to
clean the stereo.
Modifying or tampering with the CD-3339's internal components can cause a
malfunction and might invalidate its warranty an void your FCC
authorization to operate it. If your CD-3339 is not performing as it
should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
Cleaning the Tape Handling Parts
Dirt, dust or particles of the tape's coating can accumulate on the tape
deck's tape heads and other parts that the tape touches. This can greatly
reduce the performance of the cassette player. Use the following cleaning
procedure for the cassette deck after every 20 hours of tape player
operation.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Open the cassette compartment door.
3. Use a cotton swab dipped in denatured alcohol or tape head cleaning
solution to clean the record/erase head, pinch roller, capstan, play
head, and tape guides.
4. When you finish cleaning, close the cassette compartment door and
reconnect power.
Your local RadioShack store sells a complete line of cassette deck
cleaning supplies.
