Speaker Placement

Location is vital to the performance of your speakers. The ideal location
is on a table or shelf positioned near the corners of a room. Placing the
speakers on shelves attached to a wooden wall (or other acoustically hard
surface) greatly reinforces the sound quality. If possible, place the
front edge of each speaker flush with the front edge of the shelf.

We urge you to play a familiar, wide-range recording and experiment with
speaker placement until you find the speaker locations that result in the
best sound for your needs.

Stereo speaker placement can be a little tricky. For the best stereo
image, the distance between the speakers should be about the same as the
distance from the main listening point to a point half way between the
speakers. If the distance between the speakers is too great, you might
hear a hole in the center of the sound. You can compensate for this by
angling the speakers slightly toward the listening area.

Connections

With the speakers placed in their approximate locations, measure the
distance from each speaker to the amplifier. Use speaker wire or ordinary
18-gauge lamp cord (zip cord) for distances of 50 feet or less. For
distance greater than 50 feet, use heavier 16-gauge wire.

Speaker wire coded with a ridge or stripe on one side makes the connection
process easier. RadioShack sells speaker wire to meet most needs.

Using the ridge or the stripe on the speaker wire as a guide, connect each
speaker's negative (-) terminal to the amplifier's corresponding negative
terminal (right or left). Then, connect each speaker's positive (+)
terminal to the amplifier's corresponding positive (+) terminal.

This connection procedure is called phasing. Keeping your speakers in
proper phase is essential for maximum bass response and overall
performance.

1. Using a wire stripper, remove about 1/4 inch of the insulation from the
    ends of the wire.

2. Push the tab on the left speaker's negative (-) terminal and insert one
of the wire ends. Release the tab.

3. Push the tab on the left speaker's positive (+) terminal and insert the
other wire. Release the tab. Repeat this connection process for the
    right speaker.

Using Rubber Feet

Four self-adhesive rubber feet are provided to avoid scratching your
furniture. Remove the paper backing and press the feet on the bottom of
the speaker.

There are two sizes of rubber feet. Use the thicker ones for front
position (A) and thinner ones for rear position (B).

Mounting The Minimus-77

Using a screw, you can mount the speaker directly on a wall. Screw a #10
or larger screw into the wall. Then position the keyhole slot over the
screw head and slide down the speaker until the keyhole slot an screw head
lock together.

If you are mounting the speaker on sheetrock or other thin or unstable
material, you must use a moly bolt, toggle bolt, woodscrew with plastic
sleeve, or a nut and bolt.
